I first started to lift weights off and on in 7th grade for football and wrestling. By the time I was in high school, I was lifting weights 3 days a week during my lunch hour. I've always been a competitive person, and I had a good group of guys that would push each other. Today, I still go to the gym and put in 110% effort, but not for sports. As I've aged, I've learned that proper form, nutrition, and supplementation are keyes to seeing good results.
For me there are two huge reasons why I love this lifestyle. First, it's a sport and hobby for me. It's not a burden for me to go to the gym on a regular basis, because it's something I enjoy doing. Secondly, I go because I have a lung disease called cystic fibrosis. Going to the gym and working my tail off is great therapy for me, and also likely one of the main reasons I'm extremely healthy with such a life altering disease. Because of the gym, people have absolutely no clue I have CF until I tell them.
