I started lifting weights in high school for sports. When I went to college I got into power lifting for a little while. While training I broke three pieces of bone off of my shoulder, and had to have surgery. After a long 6 months of rehab and not being able to train like I used to I was finally able to lift heavy again, and someone mentioned instead of power lifting I should try bodybuilding. I did my first bodybuilding show in 2008 and won the Novice Lightweight class. I was hooked from that point, and I knew this was something I would do for a long time. I went on in 2009 to place 1st in Junior Lightweight class, 2010 placed 3rd in Open Welterweight class. I took 2011 off to get married to my amazing wife Keri Wiss. She is my biggest supporter and I couldnât do what I do with out her, it is truly a team effort. Just recently I placed 2nd in Open Lightweight at the 2012 NPC Tennessee State Bodybuilding Show, which qualified me for a national level show. I also recently got sponsored by Pit-Bull Nutrition &Supplements which has been great opportunity for me, and I appreciate all they have done for me so far.
I love bodybuilding because I am a competitive person. Also, it is a great way to keep myself in shape year around. What is so great about bodybuilding is that you find out a lot about yourself. It is a team effort with my wife, family and friendsâ supporting me, but nobody is putting the time in the gym for you pushing your body to its limit or doing 4am cardio. You really find out how far you can push yourself to achieve your goals. Itâs not about how many trophies you win although everyone likes to win. Itâs about pushing yourself to the limit and trying to come in to the next show bigger and better than you were in the last show. If you put everything you have into your training and diet and come to your show in your top shape then you have already won. One of my favorite quotes my coach Ryan Walters always uses is âYou versus Youâ, which is perfect for the sport of bodybuilding
