I was always very active with playing basketball year-round in high school, unfortunately I was all skin and bones at 5'11.5" 135lbs through my junior year of high school. At first I hated the weight room all through high school as my head coach would condition us for 3 hours a day before the season and then try to have us lift weights right after. I remember specifically not being able to lift the 45lb bar by myself. I was so weak, and all my teammates let me have it. I got teased a lot not only about my weak strength, but my looks (being all stick & bones ) by friends & teammates that should have been there to help & support me to improve. This strunk a spark in me to use all that negativity to motivate me to change my life/looks/& physical well-being. So after my junior year in high school I got a workout bench in my garage and ended up gaining 10lbs of muscle from only doing flat bench that summer to go into my senior year at 145lbs. Though still skinny I was much improved and loved the results, but wanted more. When I got to college I kept lifting and ended up gaining 23lbs my freshman year to get to 168lbs. Most of it was muscle but some fat as I had had no clue what I was doing...ate horrible...had no diet in check, and burned too much muscle and calories away from constant hours of basketball, and I was overtraining & getting horrible sleep.
I lifted on and off for years after just to lift, but really got serious starting May 2011...I now have got my pieces together for a complete home gym & got a new much better job so no more excuses like not having time to make it to the gym, things coming up, drive back & forth to work too long, not enough meals throughout the day, etc.
I love the pump, sweat, and seeing the results. It brings me a lot of confidence that if I can create and transform myself I can do anything in life to be the best in everything I do. I love having the mind-body connection, and I live by this now...the tattoo on the inside of my bicep in Greek means "A Sound Mind in A Sound Body."
I not only love seeing my own body transform, but helping others get the bodies they want as well. I love fitness with all my heart & am always looking to expand my knowledge in the field.
