I had some fits and starts when I was a kid in middle and high school, but I had two athletes for roommates in college who got me hooked. I lifted for five years then hurt myself (both shoulders), and then returned to lifting again in 2005 and have been working out ever since.
I like to challenge myself. I also enjoy allowing a different side of me to come to life - one of muscle, sweat and strength - that I can't let loose anywhere else. Lifting weights rounds out my personality, puts me in an arena diverse from any other I encounter day in and out. I go from wearing a tie to a tank top, what could be more refreshing than that?
As for this site, I'm not into being part of a friend collection, or on a personal trainer's list. I'd like to trade ideas and stories and encouragement, but will quickly delete a one sided relationship. Friendship means more to me than that.
