My mom was a fitness aerobics instructor for 20 years and I think that my love fitness and an active lifestyle emerged because of her lifestyle. I started running long distance when I was around 10 years old and have continued to run later in my life. I didn't start lifting until high school in the off season training for cross country. I didn't know what all the exercises did and what muscles they worked. It wasn't until I joined the ARMY ROTC program in Missoula MT that I actually started a regular conditioning regime. Until then I ran. Later I became a personal trainer in Portland OR for a 1 on 1 one training studio and I developed a deeper understanding of training styles, sets, reps, and what exercises targeted specific muscle groups. After a 4 years of being a personal trainer I decided I really enjoyed what I did and all the clients I worked with. I had adopted a new lifestyle. I found a new way of life. I applied to Fort Lewis College in Durango CO and graduated with a degree in Exercise Physiology. I unfortunately got hurt during my journey towards wanting to be in the military but I feel stronger than before my injury.
