I spent my first semester of law school studying in the library, drinking, and eating crappy bar food. During break, I went snowboarding with friends back in CO, could not keep up, basically rolled down the mountain and ended up getting hurt.
When I got back to school, I was noticeably out of shape, so I went to the school's gym. And was dismayed to discover how weak I had become (I couldn't even bench 135 for reps).
The combination of not being able to lift as much as I could in high school and looking like ****, motivated me to get serious about going to the gym.
Why I Love it
Making progress and getting stronger feels good. It's also nice to have just a purely physical activity to blow off steam with.
