I have always been involved in sports, and took my speed and athleticism for granted when I was younger. It was always "good enough", so I never strived to do better. I played football in a few arena leagues. Having the opportunity to get paid to play a sport you love is a dream come true.
Once I hit my early 30s, Father Time caught up to me. (he has no mercy, no chill) I was no longer the strongest, no longer the fastest. To stay competitive, I had to work harder off the field to maintain my position and skill set.
I suffered an injury that required rehab and that was my true introduction to the gym. I had been going into the gym since high school, but now I was in there with a purpose. As I witnessed the true benefits of working out, and how it impacted me in all other areas of my life, I was sold. I now work out to maintain a healthy lifestyle and to feel the high of personal achievement and satisfaction.
Working out is a daily challenge, both mentality and physically. The discipline alone separates each of us from the rest of the world. And the rewards have a great impact on all areas of our life. The emotional high of hitting a new PR, or watching the healthy transformation of your body is second to none. We all owe it to our loved ones to be the best version of ME that we can. Working out makes that possible.
