In high school, I was the alpha nerd. D&D, M:TG, Chess, Playstation games, board games, comic books, sci-fi and fantasy novels/movies, you name it. Naturally I fit the stereotype by being 135 pounds of skin, bone and flab. My diet consisted of Dr. Pepper, Pizza Rolls, and Ramen Noodles to fuel my all-night Dungeons and Dragons adventures. Looking back, I understand why I was so tired and miserable all the time.
In college, I got access to a weight room, and decided that this needed to change. It may seem silly, but one of my major inspirations for becoming fit was when I saw Brandon Lee as The Crow. I started gaining muscle, but I didn't really take cardio seriously until about three years ago. Now I realize that being fit is a combination of diet, strength training, and cardio. I try to keep all three balanced to maintain a healthy lifestyle and fit physique.
I'm currently a proud member of the world's greatest Air Force. I'm doing my best to stay fit for my age and score the perfect 100 on my PT test. I'm desperately trying to disprove the stereotype that the USAF is the "Chair Force", because believe me, I'm not just sitting around at work, or in my free time.
What's not to love?
Lifting weights really helped me increase my confidence and self-esteem.
It's increased my endurance and strength so physical tasks and work become easier.
Also, it's a good stress relief.
Plus, it helps me burn off excess energy so I can sleep at night instead of tossing and turning.
And it makes me look better naked ^_^
