GG Allin inspired me to begin working out. I started with some light dumbbells (3.5 pounds I believe), and despite what the articles you've probably read have told you, I found them to be helpful. Within a few days, I was noticing some very slight gains (I think that muscles will grow slightly in response to increased stress even in the abscess of micro-tears). My veins also became more prominent. Eventually, I started to delve further into weightlifting, with heavier weights obviously. I went through a period of strength training, and I ended up getting tired of feeling awful all of the time and having to worry about the health of my back, so I decided to just do bodybuilding stuff.
