Around the age of 18, I became sedentary for the first time in my life. As the muscles turned weak, I started having back pain. Sometimes, it was so intense that I couldn't get out of bed. I went to the doctor and they find out that I have scoliosis. I was recommended to swim, but not only I couldn't swim, but I didn't like it either. So, I went to the gym...
There, a personal trainer put a plan together that would strengthen my muscles again and alleviate the pain. Not only it worked perfectly, but I also fell in love with lifting.
A lot happened in my life since then. Including me moving from Brazil to Belgium.
Since I did not speak the language (Dutch) in the beginning and did nothing but studying, I again started to have a sedentary life. This time, it "stole" 8 precious years of my life.
Only after become 34yo that I realized that things were just getting worse everyday. Fat percentage was high (at least 30%), I was feeling and looking unhealthy⦠It was time to turn the table!
It started because of health reasons, but it grew into much more.
It is still about feeling good, looking young and improving life quality. However, it has also become competing.
Where I live, there aren't many gyms, women never lift and there are no camps/trainers/coaches around to help and support. I love the challenge though and I believe I can make it!
