There are 2 main reasons why I started working out. The first and primary reason was I got tired of family and friends calling me "skinny" and "sickly" looking. I was unhappy with how I looked and thought working out was the way to fix it.
The second reason why I started working out was how I felt. I wasn't strong, had low energy, I wanted to be in shape, and a previous injury, which I will touch on later, was limiting me from enjoying life. I didn't like going to college football games at Texas A&M because standing for the entire game (school tradition, Whoop!) was painful and exhausting for me. Also, the standing combined with the heat was draining on me (much like everyone else) but it really sucked the energy out of me. The reason for feeling so down and out of shape was because I broke my back in two places (T12 burst fracture & T3 Fracture) and my pelvis in two places (left side) in a skiing accident in 2004. I figured I better get to work if I want to be able to play with my future kids and not be a severely physically limited by the time I'm 40.
I got in the gym December 2008 and haven't looked back since! It saved my life.
There are so many reasons why I love working out! I love the routine and structure it adds to my life. I love having control of my body, being able to make it change, grow, and making it function at its best. I love the fitness community and meeting new 'like minded' people. I love how I feel when I workout and eat healthy, the pump, the sense of accomplishment, and the feeling after a great workout...its unlike anything else! Most importantly though, I love inspiring and encouraging other people to make a change in their lives, to live fit and healthy, and to reach their potential!
