Overall Goal: Get into the BEST physical shape I possibly can... abs, chest, arms, legs... I want it all.
I have control over my body and I plan to take advantage of that :)
Fit Status:
to gain more muscle and get stronger while staying lean
back in feb 2008 i was about 197 - 200 lbs. I was pretty soft although at the time I thought I was in great shape. I went to the gym maybe two times a week but I was not serious about it and my eating habits werent great.
I was concerned about losing mass because of too much running training for 1/2 marathon coming up. But to me it looks like I've not lost any mass really. I have not taken measurements recently so who knows. But My traps and shoulders seem to be getting bigger than they were 6 months ago. It's st ...

Do you monitor your heart rate while doing cardio?
The week off from running really made a huge difference. My pace sped up quite a lot. My knee is 100% better again. Now I need to get back into doing longer runs. I've been going to the gym instead of running outside the last few days. Something about it being so cold in the mornings. ha,...
things are going well... ready to go workout this afternoon for sure.. the holiday has me thrown off though with all the gym closures... so ready for the start of the new year so i can get on track
How are you doing, Ben? Saw your blog about aching knees. Take it easy on them. :-( I've signed up and got the hotel and airplane tickets to head down there for the PF Chang 1/2 in Jan. You still doing it?
Thank you Ben! It's really nice to have feedback like yours - I'm always trying to do something a lil different - my friend does a great character, lol, and he is such a good sport - he's a villian, and my father - isn't that twisted?! It's from Watchmen. Hope you have a good week - it's always nice to hear from you
it's normally in the upper 40s/low 50s when the race starts ... and well into the 60s when most of us finish. You'll be finishing faster than that :) You're kinda cool until you start running/walking ... and then everyone throws away their jackets. The homeless stand along the roadside to pick up your castoffs .. no joking. One guy in passing mentioned that the RnR Marathon was his Christmas :)
Wow Ben, thank you so much for the honor of being a person of inspiration to you. That means a lot to me :) Such a lovely comment too, I appreciate it!
You'll do GREAT. It's very well organized. Just remember there will be you and your closest 12,000 (and no, there aren't any extra zeros there) friends on the road. I've done it twice ... may do it again this Jan, too. We'll have to see. If you can run 50% of the course, you'll be doing better than 60% of the participants.
I see you're getting ready for the PF Chang 1/2 marathon in Jan ... it's a great race .. done it twice already myself. Just watch out at mile #9 or so :)
