I got into fitness more than ever last year (May 06) when I went to Lake Havasu with my big brother. I looked at all the skinny people and decided I was tired of being unhappy with my body and my lack of taut, firm, slender muscle. So he put me on a basic weight loss/toning program. (He's a personal trainer with a degree in Kineisiology. He's also a Body Building competitor. So I started doing 1200cals a day and lifting 3x a week and cardio 5x a week. Soon enough the lbs came off and the muscle showed up! Now I am 120 (by my home scale, 128 by the doc's scale) with 13.4% BF. I couldn't be happier with my body!
Then I went to a Body Building competition with my brother on May 26, 2007 and I saw the women's figures competitors. I admired their muscle, their physiques while at the same time they maintained their feminine look. I asked my bro if he thought I could do that and he said definitely. I already had a good base to start with and I just needed to up the weights and the cals to start bulking.
I just completed my first Figures show in which I placed 13th out of 21 ladies in the F category. There were 75 Figures ladies total...the largest show of the year! What a way to enter my first show! I had a great time and got great feedback from the judges.
Now I'm on my journey to next year's comp and I'm going to spend the next 10months building up my upper body before I cut again. My body gets RIPPED when I cut, which wasn't what the judges were looking for this time around, but it's great to know that I can get shredded if I have to. What a great experience!
Why I Love It:
I love seeing the transformation in my body when you put different demands on it. Seeing your body change and grow and lifting heavier than you did last week is all the motivation I need.
How I Stay Motivated:
Knowing that I have control over my body and what it looks like and having role models to aspire towards keeps me motivated.
BB Accomplishments:
Finishing my first Figures show, coming in ripped and dry and hard (the most shredded woman at the show) and getting my body into the best shape possible. I was conditioned, cut, and mentally ready. There is nothing that I could have done to be more prepared and come in more ready. Regardless of what I placed, knowing my body was at it's BESt is the greatest achievement I could aspire to.

This was taken as a progress photo for my personal goals. One Month later I decided to start training for the NPC Women's Figures Competition on Dec. 1st.
Put some serious mass on my shoulders and back like the judges suggested so I am ready to go for this year's Excalibur Figures show.
Goal (Long):
Adding mass to my upper body will give me a rounder, less stringy look when I shred my body down. Hoping to add 5-8lbs of quality muscle to my shoulders and back over the next 10months before I start cutting!
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 8 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
13%
Upcoming Contest:
NPC Exaclibur Bodybuilding & Figures Championships
What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
I wasn't aware of my form

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Consult a certified trainer to make sure you are using correct form. Heavier weights doesn't equal an effective workout if you're doing it wrong and risking injury. ROM is more important than the amount of weights you're trying to lift.Consult a certified trainer to make sure you are using correct form. Lots of people ask me what I do to "stay in shape" and how I get my body to look the way it does. I have to apologize to everyone, because I have been holding out on you. There is, in fact, a magic pill for dieting and weight loss. I was always hesitant to share this secret because I...
Wow! What awesome progress! Well done on your placing.
I've been finding it hard to find tall fitness/figure girls that inspire. You, my dear, definitely inspire :)
yeah i was one here for most of last year and then dropped my membership since I was gone a lot for training. decided to come back b/c I miss the community here.
yes, bulking seems like it would be fun...no strict dieting. i unfortunately have never had the pleasure of enjoying a bulking phase...i am in a perpetual state of leaning out my legs and glutes. Lol.
