When I Started:
Feb, 2008
How I Started:
I wanted to get back into Marine Corps shape; fit, athletic, defined, and low body fat.
Why I Love It:
I feel better physically with more energy than what I have when I'm sedentary. It also helps mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, by giving me something to focus my mind on other than things at work and my personal life that may be bothering me.
How I Stay Motivated:
I go through spurts of motivation like most people. Somedays it all comes together and on others it doesn't. I've found that my diet plays a large part actually; if you have the batteries charged with carbs, etc., that helps to make the feel good chemicals, such as dopamine, in your brain which, in turn, helps keep your attitude balanced. By the way, if you're in the Lancaster, CA area, I can use a gym buddy for 24 Hr Fitness.
BB Accomplishments:
I toned up in 60 days losing 20 pounds of the "work weight" I had gained from not exercising and working long hours with heavy meals.

Goal (Long):
Overall, I want to be considered healthy and fit by my doctor and the people that I know.
I am not interested in huge mass or really even looking like an underwear model; I respect those that wish to pursue it and I admire what a few of the accomplished competitors have done but it just isn't for me. I want to meet a few people and make a few friends to become workout partners with and also for doing some of the activities that I enjoy outside of the gym.
What are your secrets for making healthy food taste great?
A lot of healthy foods do taste great. Pick up a good book on nutrition and you'll be surprised to find that you can eat a more varied diet than you thought. A lot of the packaged healthy foods you'll see in the aisles of your grocery store aren't actually healthier than their counterparts and artificial sweeteners could have other issues.A lot of healthy foods do taste great. Where do you find healthy recipes to try?
Work-out magazines. I've suggested to a few that also publish books that they collate and publish them in book form. Business idea for an entrepreneur out there?

What supplements do you take immediately after your workout? Why?
None immediately after. I'll eat a snack of higher glycemic foods and drink water though. Occasionally, I'll drink a creatine powder.
same here, i don't reallu use personal trainers they are great, but i know enough to really take care of myself, but yeah female trainners for men i think can hamper the guys results not that they aren't as good as the male trainers but it is harder to focus on your work out with them standing over you.
the Palmdale one by the Mall isn't that dirty they keep in in really good shape.
I like it it just seems that as of January this year it has become very crowded and is hard to curcit train (Wich I like doing) cause there are alot of people on all the equipment.
but other then that I think it is really good, the people that work there are very helpful and friendsly and all the ladies that work there look amazing and are very fit nut like skin and bone but solid skinny that helps motivate me to keep working hard to.
how about yourself?
I am so sorry...that is a terrible story. I'm sure you understood everything I was talking about. It's a scary disease and I hope to always stay one step ahead of it.
