Overall Goal: I want to gain about 10 lbs. lean muscle, and control fat, in the next year.

When I Started:
2006
How I Started:
Gradually moved from distance running, to treadmills and light machines, "just to tone up". And then, believe it or not, a 78 year old man busted my chops, and told me I was wasting my time. He showed me how to do free weights with proper form and basically changed my life!
Why I Love It:
You keep learning that, the more you learn, well, you've got more to learn.
How I Stay Motivated:
Gaining weight, seeing changes, and setting P.B.'s.
I want to gain about 10 lbs. lean muscle, and control fat, in the next year.
Goal (Long):
Over the last 5 years or so, I have progressively moved from running, to machines, to free weights. Over that time I've moved from about 138 lbs. to 156 lbs. So I'm satisfied. But I want to bump it up - fast! I'm encouraged because I can see it happening. My mortal fear is gaining fat, so I'm monitoring that. So far, so good. I've got a bit of six-pack, and I'm lean. I want to start layering on more muscle. I'm moving more into the big moves, and away from the isolation moves. I think it's making a difference. And I want to say, that one of my biggest motivations has been my 80 year old mentor at the gym! The guy has changed my life!
I started following the "New Rules of Lifting" by Lou Schuler, in early April, 2009 (Hypertrophy I). Started Hypertrophy II late April, 2009. Moved into Strength I in July/August '09. Strength II, Aug./Sept. '09. Completed Hyp. III Dec.'09. Sidelined a bit with shoulder trouble. Starting...
Cheers mate, really appreciate it! I am finishing off 2009 on a high. How have you been mate, has the shoulder issue resolved itself and what's on the iron agenda for 2010. Hope you had a great chrissie
Don't think we got any bad storms lately up my way. What brought you to FLA? Now I'm strictly focused on bodybuilding and adding size to my frame so that I can be a better package come the warmer months next year.
well to be honest, the weight gainer that i take gives me 1200 calories, 50 grams of protien, and 50% of my daily carbs plus other nutrients per 40 oz shake made with milk. i drink 2 a day, one hour after my breakfast, and right before i go to sleep. im gaining weight pretty quick and the protien content is making it so i dont have to drink these shakes, plus a protien shake.
i take a weight gainer to help get the extra calories and protien, bc i dont eat very much food. so i take probably 4000 calories a day, and at least 160 grams of protien, in 30 gram intervals so i can easily digest them. but i work out extremely hard, so i dont ever get fat, just gain muscle. what about you?
Firstly, your arms are looking alot thicker than Aug - great work. I have finally hit over 80kg (178lbs). Looking to get to 187lbs by Feb at similar bf and eating an insane amount of clean food which is hard this time of yr. Bumma bout the cold - do you snowboard or ski, that would be hell fun!
Thanks man :) I work them out once or twice a month. For visibility, all you need is cardio. For size, (which doesn't necessarily lead to visibility)do an ab workout.
I never measure...I just bust my ass. I can care less. Not trying to be bigger or better than anyone....Just FIT! Thanks man...blast your arms with 50's and feed them. Thats my advice.....
Well thank you sir...and you are right, it is not about the weight. More people are so concerned with the scale and meeting a certain weight rather than using the mirror and looking and feeling good. Yes its about sculpting man, molding, and shaping the muscle!
Thanks man. Started stepping up the weight training, and knocked off a little of the cardio. Hoping to throw on some more size this winter, but don't want to bulk up too much. Do you have any plans or goals for your training this winter?
yeah he hooked me up with my first schedual :), got mne started y'know. yea not bragging ( maybe a little) but i've been told my bodys comparable to 20 year old body builders
Yes. slowly but surely filling out. It's frustrating at times because I'm not as defined as I'm used to being but the finished product will be worth it
Thanks for the inspiratrion add :) Really appreciate it and humbled by it. This ol warriors gonna keep firin! Glad to hear the shoulder injury is passing, that's one injury that is so frustrating. My tricep injury is takin longer than planned but still training were I can. Cheers Piero
