Overall Goal: I want to gain about 10 lbs. lean muscle, and control fat, in the next year.

When I Started:
2006
How I Started:
Gradually moved from distance running, to treadmills and light machines, "just to tone up". And then, believe it or not, a 78 year old man busted my chops, and told me I was wasting my time. He showed me how to do free weights with proper form and basically changed my life!
Why I Love It:
You keep learning that, the more you learn, well, you've got more to learn.
How I Stay Motivated:
Gaining weight, seeing changes, and setting P.B.'s.
BB Accomplishments:
Getting into deadlifts, squats and clean & press.

I want to gain about 10 lbs. lean muscle, and control fat, in the next year.
Goal (Long):
Over the last 5 years or so, I have progressively moved from running, to machines, to free weights. Over that time I've moved from about 138 lbs. to 156 lbs. So I'm satisfied. But I want to bump it up - fast! I'm encouraged because I can see it happening. My mortal fear is gaining fat, so I'm monitoring that. So far, so good. I've got a bit of six-pack, and I'm lean. I want to start layering on more muscle. I'm moving more into the big moves, and away from the isolation moves. I think it's making a difference. And I want to say, that one of my biggest motivations has been my 80 year old mentor at the gym! The guy has changed my life!
I started following the New Rules of Lifting by Schuler, in early April, 2009 (Hypertrophy I).
About to start Hypertrophy II late April, 2009.
Moved into Strength I in July/August '09. And now into Strength II, Aug./Sept. '09.
Moving into Hyp. III Oct.'09. Kinda struggling for last month...
yeah he hooked me up with my first schedual :), got mne started y'know. yea not bragging ( maybe a little) but i've been told my bodys comparable to 20 year old body builders
Yes. slowly but surely filling out. It's frustrating at times because I'm not as defined as I'm used to being but the finished product will be worth it
Thanks for the inspiratrion add :) Really appreciate it and humbled by it. This ol warriors gonna keep firin! Glad to hear the shoulder injury is passing, that's one injury that is so frustrating. My tricep injury is takin longer than planned but still training were I can. Cheers Piero
yeah i really want to wrk on my dead lifts but i dont wanna hurt myself. like pulling out my back or something.
should i just start light for a week and get the tech down.?
Haha na I brought my own to that lake - actually caught a 4 lb largemouth there.
But yeah I usually hit up chest & tris for day 1, shoulders & shrugs for day 2, back, bi's & forearms for day 3, and Legs for day 4 - and now I'm usually doing one of those days then resting or running/abs on in between days
this is the first real year I'm trying to bulk, though - I'm having decent results: really been upping my strength lately
Ouch, that sounds painful! How did you do the injury and is it muscular? Hang in there mate - I know how frustrating it is having injuries. How's the weather holding up in your part of the world. Training is awesome right now, thank you for asking. I may be taking this season off to train for bodybuilding and focus on my schooling. It will be a tough decision either way. My weight went up while I was experimenting with bulking, but down as I geared up for a photo shoot. No more of that for awhile though! I want to get a lot bigger.
