When I Started:
Feb, 1992
How I Started:
My dad got me started when I was 12, 1992. But in 2001, I pretty much just stopped lifting weights. So I considered myself to be starting completely over when the iron bug bit me again in Jan 2007.
Why I Love It:
I love the pump, the superfast metabolism and muscle growth. I know that professional bodybuilding is not in the cards for me, but most of all, I like the feeling of being healthy again.
How I Stay Motivated:
I remember what I did to myself when I quit working out. I was in the Marines so I had to maintain some level of fitness, but it was difficult. I slept a few hours a day or I slept the day away, binge ate, drank heavily and smoked like a forest fire. I pretty much let myself go. When I got out in 2003 was when my problem started. No fitness requirements to be a mechanic so I ballooned up to about 250 nasty looking pounds. Then my girlfriend (now wife) got me back into it in Jan 2007. I quit smoking, started getting smarter about my food intake and I rarely drink alcohol now. Now where I work, I come into contact with thousands of people a week (not a mechanic anymore)and I feel that I need to look a little intimidating and approachable at the same time.

Goal (Long):
This year, 2009, my long term goals are to use 315 lbs as my working weight for at least 2 sets of squats. I will lose 15-20 lbs of fat and keep it off. I will look athletic again. I just want to be strong and healthy and keep myself that way.
Just some reminders to all of my brothers and sisters of the iron. I am an expert with airplane travel. Here are some tips that I hope will help you and your families with your air travel this holiday season.

Lol was getting ready to do over head biceps with the cables, grabbed the handle to pull in the weights, was kind of at an angle and felt something pull and then a sharp pain down my arm...no weights for two weeks :(
Very welcome and bet that, with diet in check, one impressive physique in both size and definition including 6 pack by year's end. Keeping an eye for updates. Andre
No problem. Honestly the best endurance/conditioning program I ever used included 3-4 spinning classes a week. That's nothing but an hour straight of HIIT. Work some long distance jogs in on the other days and you're golden.
