I was small boned and really skinny, about 135 lbs. Was a pretty successful distance swimmer and triathlete in college, but after graduation I wanted to gain some weight so I joined a local YMCA, got some great instruction, and was totally hooked after the first workout.
Why I Love It:
I love feeling my muscles burn and ache as I pound through set after set, and being totally pumped. I look forward to each workout, to setting new PR's and seeing and feeling my body get stronger.
How I Stay Motivated:
I look back to see how far I've come and look forward to see how far I can go.
BB Accomplishments:
Started lifting barely being able to bench 100 lbs. Old clothes that used to drape and flap over my frame like curtains in the wind, now fit nice and snug in all the right places :-)

Runner, triathlete, and 135 lbs soaking wet
After 2 months of heavy deadlifting, a bit more thickness in the upper back
My training has been going really well. I've been hitting the gym 5 days a week, with a mix of high reps/low weight and heavier weights. I expected to put on some size, but actually lost fat and maintained muscle, with increased definition. I can actually see some serious abs now.
Hey amico. Ta for the comment! Feels great to have other people notice. Funny thing is, I actually weigh a lot less than before but look bigger. Funny how the world works these days. How you doing?
Hi Widebody,
I have been training (again, after 20 years) since June 2003. I usually workout 5 days a week and rarely miss. (Although I am in process of moving now, so isn't correct at the moment.)
Thanks for the comment.
Thanks! I probably need to work on a new one. Good size and def in your latest pics. So, are you all settled back here in the states and MI? It sounds like you found a good gym to train at. -Jeff
Thanks for your forum comments. Yep, I've been packing down the protein shakes. This last trip definitely encouraged me in thinking I can do this. Best of luck in your travels - keep on keeping the backpack heavy! Take care!
LOL! Thanks for the comment, man! My freakin chest is still sore and it's Thursday!!! I usually hit my chest again on Thursdays, but not this week. Today when I was doin shoulders my chest started to ache... bad news... I'm surprised that I'm takin so long to recover... I guess it's from taking last week off???
