About one year ago, I saw a special on MTV about a girl who wanted to complete a fitness competition. This was the first time that I saw what a fitness competition is, and I thought it looked like a fun way to get in shape. Plus, I can be rather reserved at times (although I do like to make people laugh), so I thought that doing a fitness competition would be a good way to get me out of my comfort zone! I contacted Cathy Savage Fitness to become an online member but only did the program for about one month. I was also training for an ultramarathon (50 miles) at the time, so it was just too much. So, this year, I am determined to complete my first fitness competition and have registered once again with Cathy to help me reach my goals!
Why I Love It:
For as long as I can remember I have always loved working out, particularly running. I love the fact that I can have a crappy day, but despite it all, I know that I have done something good for myself if I have worked out that day. I also am one of those people who need to be challenged constantly, and working out definitely fulfills that need!
How I Stay Motivated:
I open Oxygen magazine or go to the Cathy Savage website to remind myself of what I am working for!
BB Accomplishments:
I have a lot more fitness accomplishments than bodybuilding accomplishments. I did a 50-mile trail run last year, which had been a dream of mine since I was 15 or so. I still want to run the Western States 100, but want my body to rest some before I do another ultra. Plus, I have completed four marathons. The last marathon I ran, I was number 18 out of a field of over 200 women. In terms of bodybuilding, I remember about one year ago I couldn't do even one military press with an Olympic bar, but this year, I can! And I can do more than just one rep!
Today at the gym I managed about 10 pullups (not all at once, three in one set, then two in another, etc). AND I was curling 25 pound dumbbells! I was getting worried there for a while because I couldn't seem to lift any heavier, and then today I am suddenly stronger!
Wendy!! Thank you girl!! Thats awesome you tried them out!! And yeah...at the end of a leg workout...not the best time to rock out burpees! I did them in my workout yesterday too...i'll blog soon...but I didnt cheat on any...full push ups each time!! Course I only had to do 10 at at time x 5 times and deadlifts!! GIRL you rock too!!
Not 70's not that old. The hair OMG!!! I was not out of high school and Late 80's is when I was first biten and only a few women in it. Loved it then and love it now. I knew where all the Hot men where and I always had and still do have plenty of spotters. Just keeps getting better. Take Care :) Juliet
The eating isn't really the issue. It's just some nagging pain that's been shooting up through my eye. heh. It's worst at the end of the day. I hope it's better tomorrow because I plan on going water skiing over the holiday!
LOL, don't get me wrong - by the time the fourth set of burpees came around, it took the same time to complete 1 as it did 2 burpees in the beginning!! :p SO bummed that that's the weekend you're busy in August, but yes, hopefully I'll be back around October or something!! Do you come down to SD often??
Oh - and LMAO about the cardio whore comment!! I was WONDERING how you were doing so much - I was thinking, "I want to be on WENDY'S regimen!!" ;) How goes the training and the diet?
Hi beautiful!! I'll be flying in August 14 and we're leaving either Sunday or Monday... if you're free that would definitely be fun to meet!! I don't think I'm going to continue - I'm glad for all the things I've learned, but the eating discipline was hard to handle!! I definitely learned a lot, though :)
Hee, I actually hired movers, but the stuff that I did move had me sweating buckets (it didn't help that it was 90+ degrees on Sunday!). Thank you so much for asking... how have YOU been? Savage workouts still kicking major butt for you?
Thanks Wendy, I'm working hard at it, added more cardio to burn some of this pesky ARSE fat. Hope to be able to post lower body progress some day. You are looking fabulous as always.
LMAO! You're "trying to convince the bf to go to Tahoe" part of your blog must have got me thinking! LOL Ok, I'm really hopping off for the night now LOL G'night!!!
Oh...Have I not written a review?!? EEK! Umm...I like it. No jittery feeling, no crazy hot flashes like products containing yohimbe (like Hot Rox Extreme, which I do also like), no racing heart like ephedra.
