tryin to keep up with the workouts amidst the summer fun :)
Goal (Long):
I am a hardgainer. Before I ever touched a dumbbell in high school I was 130lbs at 5'9". Sick of being skinny I started fooling around with weights and got up to 155 lbs. last summer. Then I lost motivation and stopped working out. I decided its time to get back in shape.
What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
Drink a serving of SuperPump 250, either crank some music or watch videos on youtube of people doing athletic activities that inspire me to become better.

Ha Ha! Not may people HAVE heard of chains on dumbells. I built two attachments (really just a fancy loop of rope with d-ring attachments). They naturally cinch tight at the pinky-side of your hand. It's an unusual experience to feel your dumbells go from 60 to 80lbs. during a single press! Plus, they're the lightest (at the bottom) where I'm most prone to injury. Of course, they force your wrists into eversion a bit & I always use good wraps.
Warboy, I get credit for being larger than I am...but I appreciate the comment! I do all the things an injury-prone person like myself shouldn't do. Heavy, low-rep working sets with chains, board work, lock-outs, etc. If I don't go heavy, I look like a distance runner. My routine's very straight forward...heavy flat dumbells with chains, heavy decline bar with chains & incline dumbells without chains. Warmup x 3, Working x 4, Workdown x 2. That's it. No secret! Best of luck, brother. al
Yeah, the PhD...........it's interesting, that's for sure. Sometimes I curse myself for going back to school (and throwing my fitness progress off wack). Other times I'm happy that I'm improving another area of my life that needs attention (academic, career, etc.). Life is full of nice little twists and turns like that.
I bought a new scale that does the testing. I am not really sure how accurate it is though. Normal mode said 16% fat but the athletic mode said 6.9% fat so I would assume that I am somewhere between these.
