When I Started:
Oct, 2009
How I Started:
I've always been overweight. After recently graduating from college and moving to start a new career in Atlanta, I decided it was time to get my body in check. I'm starting very slowly and could definitely use any words of advice or encouragement anyone could offer.
Why I Love It:
Working out gives me energy and really makes me feel better about myself when I'm done. I have started seeing improvements already, and it's really exciting to see my body change before my eyes.
How I Stay Motivated:
Well, this seems to be a major problem of mine. I'll give a week or so strong and then completely give up. Then a week later its time to "get serious" again.
This time, I'm going to try and get involved in this community and hope that others will give me enough encouragement to keep me motivated towards my goals.
BB Accomplishments:
So far I have managed to lose a little weight and maintain it. I'm hoping that by my birthday next year (aug 2010) I will finally meet my overall goals.

I've always wanted to change my body into something that I can truly be proud of. For the last few years I've dreamt about what it would be like not to be ashamed of the way I look, and finally I have decided to take the steps necessary to make the dream a reality. Ultimately, I want to drop my body fat percentage significantly, and start adding muscle to many fat stores that currently call my body home.

Do you track your workouts (exercises, weight, reps, etc.)?
Yes
If so, how do you do it? Workout log, software program, etc.? Why do you do it this way?
I use "iFitness" on my iPhone. It's an easy to use program which keeps track of my workouts and compares them for me. Good source of motivation!

Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
I never use to, which lead to me always quitting after a week. I used to be "scared" of how people would react if they knew I was working out. Now that I'm older, I realize that the only way to accomplish your goals and permanently change your body is to include others in your goals and use them as a source of motivation.I never use to, which lead to me always quitting after a week. What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Workout with others, and make sure people know what you are doing. The support of others is priceless in accomplishing your goals.
Today I weighed myself, and to my surprise I'm starting to drop weight. I look at myself in the mirror, and I can tell that my body is changing already and it makes me feel really good. I can't believe how quickly my body is adapting to this new lifestyle.
