After gaining an absurd amount of weight while my wife was pregnant with our first child (from 210 to 265) I went on the Atkins diet and dropped weight to around 190 LBS looked sickly... The wife got pregnant again, I jumped back to 265.... then in July of 2005 before the birth of our second daughter I joined a gym. Went from 265-225 in a healthier way... unfortunately I let life and stress get in the way of maintenance and I'm back to 250...
Why I Love It:
The stress just melts away with the fat and it's a great way to get some "ME" time.
How I Stay Motivated:
This is difficult for me but I do think often of my girls.

i was and still am fat
Slowly but surely I'm not in a race I want this to be forever....
Motivate my wife and daughters to fully embrace a healthy fit lifestyle. Eat well and excercise regularly. Decrease Bodyfat.
Goal (Long):
Over the next 365 days I will eat better, increase excercise and enjoy a more active life.
My specific weight goal is 225 Lbs with under 10% bodyfat. Timeline is 6-12 months.
(May 6, 2008)
At June 10, My weight has changed very little but my body composition has definately shifted and I'm leaner then I was. current weight is hovering in around the 240 LB mark.
I will acheive these goals because I have 2 young daughters and a wife who count on me to be around for a long time. The excerceise will also be a welcome stress releiver for me as I work hard supporting my family.
What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
I like the Eliptical with the variable strides it's low to no impact and I can get a good workout on it.
I htink that I need to get on thetreadmill though but my legs and back hurt from too much walking any running I guess I'll work up to it.I like the Eliptical with the variable strides it's low to no impact and I can get a good workout on it.

Had to pop another hole in my belt this morning....
Progress continues, slow slow slow but continual, I'm happy with that.
School is beating the crap out of me, I can't beleive this teacher wants soo much work for a 4 week term, then top it off with him usingĀ lotsĀ of class time to...
Hey Thank you for your blog comment!! Yes, I am kinda flattered, but feel weirdly violated in some way!! lol I guess I should be also glad that I am 21 years younger and taller and skinner too!! lmao ~beth :)
LOL...i dont know whats worse, the summer crowd or the new years crowd! it was packed again today AND i had problems w/ my ipod...so i had to listen to all the teenage tough guys talk :)
I think it is fantastic you support your wife like you do. Still trying to get the hubby in the gym or on the treadmill myself...three kids can wear us out.
I guess the best way for me to tell is if I get my bf% measured by a trainer and then once I get my calipers in, I try to see if my results compare. Thanks! Have a great lifting week!
(...continued from below) I'm just hoping I'm not terrible at getting the measurements/analysis correct. As long as I can get a measurement close to that of the trainer I'm happy. As you said, it's all about being consistent. With that in mind, do you think that measuring by yourself will skew the results in comparison to a professional trainer helping you? Cheers!
Thanks for your reply to my blog entry. It really helps. Yeah, I know that none of them are 100% accurate. But I'm just hoping that I can get a fairly close estimate from doing a self measurement. I had a similar measurement taken by a trainer at my gym recently using a similar measuring caliper. She said that most of similar type are usually within 3% accuracy which is good enough for me as long as I can get consistent with my readings... (to be continued...)
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and comment. I might just do the fitday thing to prove to them, esp one of the docs I work with. He stays on my ass all the time. Nice tats btw.
Just stopping by to see how your workouts are going. Still on a strength program? I'm closing in on my goal of squatting 1.5 times body weight. Should be there by mid summer. Keep at it. Congrats on the weight loss.
Was just about to ask where are your new progress pics, but read about your new tattoo in a last minute :) thats a wise thing to keep away from gym while its still fresh...smth i couldnt bare to do and paid for it with lack of sharpness in one corner :(
Hope you heal soon and get back to gym routine without any problems - its always hard to go back. Have nice day :)
Thank you so much for your time that you devoted to reading my post, that means alot to me, you really hit the nail on the head and it helped me get through my nerves in talking to him and finding the words to explain how it feels, I think he gets it, for the most part... we will see, its all out in the open now and up for judgment, what will need to happen will and i am confident in that, i just need to make sure and be true to myself and not be a push over... Thank you again!
Very nice!! Lots of detailing... how long did that take?? Yeah, for sure let it heal before you go back to the gym - my buddy showed me his staph infection on his leg that he thinks he got from the locker room and it was so disgusting!! It looked awful on 'plain' skin, let alone beautiful artwork like that!
