Background

When I Started: Mar 2009
HOW I STARTED:

I started working out because of sports. I played collegiate and professional baseball for 6 years. When I was done with athletics, I was missing the competitive life-style I was accustomed to. With having been in a gym most of my adult life and worked in a gym as a trainer, I decided last year to start bodybuilding. It has been a true blessing and something I look forward to doing daily.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love bodybuilding for the discipline that is involved. Physically, one must put forth extreme amounts of effort in an attempt to overcome any short comings and mentally, one has to have a clear game plan and be able to execute it day-in and day-out. A fantastic way to organize not only a healthy life-style, but also other aspects of life.

My Workout Program

This phase is a bit higher in volume than the last. Just came off of power exercises for low reps and intense, heavy weight. Now moving into a phase that requires 6-10 reps with lightheavy to moderate weight. The muscle groups are also broke down into days instead of grouped together as a push or a pull muscle, as the last phase did. The intent is to moderately rest the body to prep it for the next extremely heavy phase. You can't just lift super heavy all the time as a natural competitor and expect your nervous system to keep up. Not happening. So I turn down the intensity slightly and increase the volume.

Monday: Chest 5-6 Exercises 6-10 reps per set 2-5 sets(Depends on the week. Week #1 - 2 sets, Week #2 - 3 sets, Week #3 - 4 sets, and Week #5 - 5 sets)
Tuesday: Back
Wednesday: Legs
Thursday: Shoulders
Friday: Biceps/Triceps/Forearms

Abs: Monday and Thursday
Monday: Weighted Decline Crunches 3 sets of 12 reps
Supine Floor Lying Weighted Leg Raises 3 sets
12 repd
Thursday: Weighted Russian Twist 3 sets 12 reps each way
Weighted Back Extension 3 sets 12 reps

My Wife, Chasity. Plain and simple. She pushes me like you wouldn't believe. The best trainer I could ask for. Also, my son Bryce. I want to be able to show him through bodybuilding that he can achieve anything he puts his mind to. I Love the both of you and couldn't compete without you.

Alcohol and Bodybuilding

Posted in Training  :  Dec 30, 2010 11:39am

We are all guilty for this one.  Alcohol is the mainstay food source for a college student, the food of choice during the big game, and the first thing many people think of to help them "relax" or "unwind."  Well, I am here to help you with some details about alcohol so that you can make better decisions about using it or not.  I don't think any natural bodybuilder can be competetive drinking booze regularly, off season or not.  Just not good for you and you shouldn't be drinking it anywa

Ok....Now that I've got my stuff together, I can finally explain what my blog will hopefull be about.  Since I am a Natural Bodybuilding competitor and a big advocate of building muscle that way, Natural, I am going to try and focus on the general nutrition involved in that process.  A "natural talk" if you will.  This first installment is on Vitamin-C and it's impact on all of the functions in the body.  It is probably the very first supplement you should think about taking when you are a performance athlete or begin to lift weights fr...
