Background

When I Started: Apr 2008
HOW I STARTED:

I went skiing for the first time in my life and I realized that I had no muscle endurance and very little strength. I decided I didn't want to be a weak, feeble woman in our retirement years so that Vic and I can still do all the things we've dreamt of doing.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love how good I feel when I work out, endorphines rock! I love lifting, I like being able to play with the big boys. I like feeling strong.

Lean protein - grilled chicken, tuna, salmon, tillapia etc. Almonds. Vegetables; bell peppers, bro

Chocolate. the occasional cocktail.
Supplements Met-Rx BCAA 2200, 180 Softgels
I respond really well to these BCAA's. I get a good workout in and it really helps ease the soreness after a hard training session.

Sufficient Rest

So apparently the theme of the day is "rest". Between a conversation I had this morning with my amazing hubby (SuperVic2007) and a post Jamie Eason had on her facebook page it appears that "rest" is something we all need to take into consideration with our training programs. Jamies mention of rest was from the standpoint of resting between workouts to avoid overtraing and to allow for the necessary and desired muscle growth. I started my fitness and nutrition journey over three years ago.  I saw results quickly and was on my way to having the body I envisioned for myself.  Then life happened.  First, I went through a nerve injury in my left arm that sidelined me for several months.  I got back to it, but my heart wasn't really in it 100%.  Then I went back to work after being a stay at home Mom for almost 12 years.  The job was not working out at all, I was not cut out for the environment I was working in and it threw me into a fast downward spiral to a deep depression.  While

Gimmick Fitness Wear

I’m not sure which upsets me more the coming up with the idea for gimmicks and marketing them, or the people who actually buy into them.  The former upsets me in an angry way.  Taking advantage of people for monetary gain is so wrong on so many levels.  The latter upsets me in a sad way.  That people are so out of shape and so desperate to be in shape that they’ll buy into these gimmicks saddens me.  It’s also sad that they don’t see that they actually have to do work to see results.   It st...
