My life as an anorexic, turned bulimic, turned party girl was spiraling out of control...
When my brother switched gyms and found a place with a 2-for-1 offer, he asked if I wanted to sign up.
I joined.
That was November 2006. I spent the remainder of that year and nearly all of 2007 on the treadmills and eliptical machines...
The only results I heeded were of frustration and exhaustion. I also zapped my immune system and found myself sick ALL THE TIME.
At that point, joining the gym was really becoming more of health hazard than anything...
I reached out for help. I consulted bodybuilding.com for tips on training with weights. I also subscribed to Oxygen magazine.
Many articles and a few swallows of pride later, I peeked into the weight room. I found it to be the most intimidating place of all, but I knew I needed to be there.
Once in the weight room, wasted a lot of time at first - mostly fearing what others around me were thinking. Then one day it dawned on me: nobody was watching-- they're all too busy lifting. And when they're not lifting, they're checking themselves out in the mirror!
My brother also told me something that helped a lot. He said, "Everyone's got to start somewhere..."
He's right. With that mindset, dodging around with the muscle guys became a lot less intimidating. Now I love being there because I know where I want to go and I know how to get there.
Why I Love It:
Before educating myself about lifting and proper nutrition, I loathed it. I would find any excuse in the book to get out of a session.
Now that I know what I'm doing with weights, and now that I'm feeding my muscles properly, I love it!
I thrive on challenging myself and I love the feeling of accomplishment.
How I Stay Motivated:
The artist in me... I envision this sculpture's fate... and keep going.
I also log onto Bodyspace.com-- AWESOME motivation around here! :D
BB Accomplishments:
I transitioned from loathing the gym to loving it!

This was taken in the 4th year of what was to become a 12+ year battle with anorexia and bulimia.
In Week 1 of Phase III on my 12-Week Tri-Phase Training Program. Total body workouts are on!
Goal (Long):
I would like to lead a healthy, intense lifestyle and sculpt the best lean body I can. My first main goal is to gain 10 pounds of lean mass. Thereafter, of course, I'll be looking to cut the fat and highlight my muscles. Along the way, my little goals include doing a max rep set of 10 overhand pull-ups in beautiful form by summer 2008--that is, by June 21st, 2008. I'd also like to build up my abs and do something with my calves-- as much as those dorky little muscles of mine will go. But again, aside from all the little personal goals I have, my main objective is simply to live beautifully and sculpt a body that I can be proud of. ;)
