When I Started:
Jun, 1952
How I Started:
I was a fat 14 year old and soon realized that 14 year old girls did not think 14 year old fat guys were cool, and as I mentioned in the rest of my profile,I soon changed that.
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel and I hope, look years younger than my actual age.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't want to die in a rocking chair or in a nursing home with my face in my bowl of soup.I want to go down in flames and look good laying in my casket./////One of my friends need to get a hip replacemrnt, her husband keeps telling me that more amd more his mind is wandering back to when he was 13 years old,my brother in law tore a rotator cuff WALKING TOO FAST!!!!KEEP ON LIFTING OR GO DOWN THE DRAIN!
BB Accomplishments:
Back when I was 19,20 years old,I was extremely strong for my size,5ft 4in,tall 132lbs,could military press-no cheating-178lbs;and had a very strong reputation as a street fighter.

Brief summary-At 14 years old I weighed 178 lbs at 5'4,all fat.Through weight training and diet I transformed myself to a fit muscular 135 lbs at 16 years old.I continued that lifestyle till I was 21 years old and my passion for music and playing the drums was too strong and I became a active drummer playing 4 to 5 night a week while holding down a day job as an electrician.A musician's lifestyle is not condusive to a healthy lifestyle, and fitness wise,I went down the drain. At 35 years old,I knew that if I continued this lifestyle I would not live to see my 40th birthday.I went back to weigh training and healty habits and regained my former physical condition till I was 58 years old.At that point I began to have health issues that prevented me from continuing my training.Withouth going into all the details,it was my thyroid, and it messed me up untill 2 years ago when it was removed.I have weighed 175 lbs since then, and it's not pretty.Ab
out 2 weeks ago,I became fed up with my situation and decided that I was going to get back into training and get back into shape or die trying.Much to my amasement,I responded to the exercise like I did before my health problems and now I back in the grove.I will be 70 years old in july.and my goal is to see just how far an old guy can go. I know that this information is more than most everyone cares to know, but if it can motivate just 1 person then it will be worth it.Thank you for your indulgence.

Most people on this site look in the mirror to check their progress,at 70 years old I figure waking up in the morning is progress.Figured I'd trow in a joke.My main reason is to see if this comes up on the site. When I respond to someones blog,my comments will not always show up.They are...
Thanks Norm, I appreciate your note. She had her heart attack the day after my contest, so I haven't really been highly motivated lately to work out. kinda puts things in a different perspective, if you know what I mean..thanks again..
Nah, I'm not a dirty old man. I'm all talk. Mister all talk no action is what my wife calls me. Glad you like my comments, fell free to use them and claim them as your own. I won't even charge you royalties. ;)
hey mate, training is going great. just started spring down here in oz so im starting to slim down for the beach and babes haha hope all is going well for you mate
You were probably 5 miles from my house! We have a bike, too. It's a Honda Shadow Aero 1100. My husband had rotator cuff surgery 7/10, so we have done no summer riding :( However, we're hoping to get some good Fall weather to ride.
And as you know at our age it does not come easy. There have been many times I have thought about quitting, wondered if it's worth the effort and morning stiffness and pain. Then I get a word of encouragement from someone like yourself and that sparks the drive again. Thanks to you and the others who know and understand.
