"Lose about 14 lbs of fat and start to put on some bulky muscle."

Personal Info And Background:
Real Name:
Sex: Male
Age: 34
Location: New York, United States
Occupation: EMS
Personal Website:
Gym: Healthworks / Island Fitness
Gym Location: Painted Post / Ithaca
When I Started: Dec, 2006
How I Started: Oh, man. Well I've been doing it off and on (mostly off) since I was a skinny 16 year old. I was 145 lbs at 18 and actually went down to 138 in college! I was not big (obviously), but I was very cut and in great shape at the time between weightlifting regularly with my roommate and being on the school volleyball team. After finishing college I gave up working out totally for a few years until my weight crept up to 170 lbs (the heaviest I've ever weighed) in late 2001. This was all flabby fat. I got back into going to the gym and bicycling again. I've stabilized at around mid 160's for my weight, but have definately lost fat and gained muscle since my 170lb days. I was an avid bodybuilder from 12/06-12/07, working out at least 3 times per week. Then my baby girl was born! I was out of the gym and not exercising for almost 10 months, just doing all I could to get as much sleep as I could (which was not nearly enough). I am starting to get back into the groove again.
Why I Love It: I love the way it makes me feel: feeling the pump of your muscles after lifting, or feeling the rush and relaxation after an aerobic workout. I am much more confident and comfortable at work lifting patients.
How I Stay Motivated: Seeing some changes keeps me motivated. More defination, better shaping, and increased size in my shoulders, biceps, chest, and calves feels great!
BB Accomplishments: Finally getting in a permanent habit of exercise after 16 years of "binge exercising"!

Goals:
Main Goal: Gain Muscle
Goal (Short): Lose about 14 lbs of fat and start to put on some bulky muscle.
Goal (Long): I want to lose the fat I have put on while I have been out of the gym for the past 10 months. Get into aerobic shape again with running and bicycling. Come September 2009 I'd like to go on my usual 100 mile charity bike ride that I had to skip this year. I want my weight initially below 158 lbs and get my BF% to around 8%. I would like to gain 20 lbs of muscle long run, this would put around 180 lbs, lean.
Weight Goal: I want to GAIN 20 lb
Bodyfat Goal: 8%

How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
8-12 because that is the sweet spot to build mass. At times I will put in variety and do 15-20 reps or only 5 reps.

How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
About 1 minute to recouperate a bit, but still get some cardio benefits.

What is the best age to start lifting weights?
15

Had an awesome weekend.  A good friend of mine, Chris, from Pennsylvania came up to visit with his wife and stay for a 4 day weekend.  We had a blast, plus, get this, Chris is a certified personal trainer.  He is a testament to his profession and a bit of an inspiration to me.  Chris used to...

Workout Program:
My workout program now consists of lifting my 9 month old daughter up and down! I was doing well with consistent exercise for 8+ months right up until a couple of days before she was born. Now it's been almost 9 months since I really worked out. I've been doing all I can just to get...
