I got started to get stronger for wrestling and track & field. My Dad went to a PT and got a workout for me. He helped me to get the correct form. My Dad is my mentor. He would take off work to come to my wrestling matchs. He still motivates me by asking all the time if I am still training and lifting. He will give me advice.
Why I Love It:
I love the fact that it keeps me in better shape than the other person. I love the feeling of pushing myself pass my limits and feeling the results. It is the best treat to see yourself in the mirror after your hard work.
How I Stay Motivated:
I put pictures up of what I want and work towards it. I look at them everyday and think about what it would be like to have them and to know what I have accomplished. Having a workout partner (Rob170) telling you "ONE MORE" and pushing me to strive to be better. Getting letters and emails from my Dad asking me how my lifting and training is going. I have to keep impressing him.
BB Accomplishments:
Last Updated :080516
635 on BOX SQUATS for 2 reps.1400 lbs on the LEG PRESS ( hasn't changed because leg press is broken). 355 on INCLINE BENCH for 2 reps. Running three miles in 19 minutes and 40 seconds.
To get my body back in wrestling shape while also having superior strength.
Goal (Long):
To get back in the best shape of my life! It was when I was wrestling in college. I would like to transform my body back into that state while also gaining in superior strength.
What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Not following the proper technique and using any safety devices (i.e. spotter, straps, belt). Trying to act all big and bad!

What celebrity body would you most like to have? Why?
I have more of a Stallone and VanDamne body shape; I would have to say one of theirs with some 300 thrown in.

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
I tore my whole lower back deadlifting and I have a birth defect in my lower back. Both of those combined caused two years of recover. I blown one knee out squatting and having the other one go out because of my daily tasks while trying to support my weight. A lot more but for other reasons (i.e. wrestling, boxing, and rugby)I tore my whole lower back deadlifting and I have a birth defect in my lower back. Both of those combined caused two years of recover. I blown one knee out squatting and having the other one go out be...more
I can lift as heavy and as hard as I want, but I don't feel the pump at the end unless I do a Century Mark. I remember the century mark from high school. At the end of my work out I pick an excerise and do it for a 100 reps. I have used medium weights but have to drop down once I hit 50....
Starting June 19th I will be doing my old workout of Cardio with Endurance lift in the morning. In the afternoon I will be doing Heavey Lifts for one Body Part a day!
I lived in SC for awhile. I got escorted out. I was 8. Let's see, well there's that apply nail polish story. I keep meaning to look that up to see if it's real. It just doesn't make much sense the more I think about it.
My training is ok, I started back at the gym Tuesday morning and I did two sessions yesterday (one was a body pump class) but it was TOUGH! I'd only managed 3 runs (1 trail, 2 road) and just one weights session whilst away so I'm feeling it - esp as I'm used to trying to do something most days. I'm gonna join you on going back to hardcore everything Monday - for now wearing a tutu will have to be enough! :)
I knew it - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I looked at your age and almost wished you well but then I thought that my mind must be playing tricks! Are you seriously telling me that you are going sugar-free on your b'day? That is pretty hardcore - no cake?!
Thanks Jordan! Funnily enough I managed to stay out of trouble although screaming toddlers on the night flight back home almost had me looking to knock out a window to get off the plane!
I just couldn't do it though - the screamers were MY kids - oops :)
Oh....the horror of chiggers. I keep meaning to look them up and research them a bit. I lived down south as a kid and there were chiggers everywhere so, you know, there were just awful stories and I think some could be rumors from other kids....I'll find out
The track workout is awesome! I do stairs (which you can do a ton of stuff on..doubles, singles, lateral jumps, etc), some running, walking lunges, jump rope, I've been bringing a big towel and doing some abs (because there are chiggers on the bleachers), pushups, dips...basically everything! You should try it sometime!
The workouts are ok...I'm excited to get more outdoor activity in now that it's getting warmer. Had a nice bike ride to the track today. I prefer that to indoor cardio. How are your workouts going?
Cardio is pretty boring. :P I try not to think about how boring it is while I"m doing it because it makes the minutes creep by even MORE slowly! LOL!! :) When is the big day? Do you have exciting plans for it?
I got all my workouts in... but the clean diet part? Eh. Does "sorta" count for aything? Hehehehe. :D How about you? How is the month of May going for you??
It was a GREAT class! That's the only one I do, twice a week. As for having trouble keeping your weight up - consider yourself lucky, not all of us have that problem! Hape the training's going to plan. :)
