When I Started:
Jun, 2005
How I Started:
I moved into a new apartment and got really frustrated at how tired i got lugging stupid boxes around. Because the gym was literally two blocks from my house, i decided to get a membershhip there and ended up meeting a really cool friend that helped me get started there! Since then ive since moved twice, which is not good for the training program, but ive stuck with it, and this last move was SO much easier, LOL!
Why I Love It:
It feels GOOD - i love going to the gym! Not to mention I am inspired by the guys on here that look amazing, I want to get strong like that!
How I Stay Motivated:
This site, and the beach at summertime, LOL. I also keep track of my specific measurements on an Excel chart... As long as everything goes up in the overall view I am a happy man. (monthly fluctuations are normal - just like stocks ;)
Ime wearing clothes because i was too embarrassed to ever take off my shirt. I weighed approx 150-155lbs and was so absolutely destroyed (tired) by moving into my apartment on the 2nd floor that I knew something HAD to be done.
Unfortunate its not official, but I need some sort of shot to go by from this point on.
My current goal is to bulk up to 180, with a long-term goal of reaching 200.
Goal (Long):
For a LONG time ive been wishing that I could be stronger, I want to be able to wear those nice fitting shirts that show off your chest and arms... I want to be huge, 200 lbs and all lean muscle! Ever since i was a kid, i was fascinated with bodybuilders and wanted so badly to be like them, but was always the paperthin little whisp of a creature that i thought it was an utterly impossible task! All that stuff about genetics etc... I recently saw a t-shirt that said: "Override Your Genetics". Thats exactly what I want to do!
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
Close to work and home, can go almost anytime i feel energetic. I really enjoy building a community in the gym .. I can ask trainers questions, take classes to mix things up when I'm bored etc.

What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
Avoid those over-priced boutique gyms. I have tried them and its not worth it.... I can bring my own towel thankyouverymuch and that is the single aspect of the over priced gym that mine didn't have.
So its been three weeks since I started the new workout, and I'm definitely beginning to feel some results. I've been eating like a pig... my sister had her graduation ceremony yesterday from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy (Lucky me!) and they had the event catered with healthy...
Cardio: 3x weekly @ jogging 45-60min, speed: 7.0, Incline 1% - This has been a challenging level for me, with best results early in the morning before breakfast after a carb-licious dinner and a weak sugary drink in the morning (with something interesting on the TV to help me along )
Hey, I'm inspired by your writing and comments on working out. I've had a struggle getting back into it after a time off, but appreciate you efforts and documenting. Keep up the great work. :-)
Thanks for your support. After seeing what my grandmom is going though has giving me a new out look about hings. Now I'm in a kick a$$ mood and I'm loving it!! Sorry about hearing that you have lupus I also have it. The great part about you and me, is that we have overcome the idea of having it and we didn't allow it to keep us down. You ROCK man!!!
Nice 6 hour hike sounds exciting! Oh you are allow to cheat once in a while so seat back enjoy a cookie!! You look great! My addiction to working out has offically kicked in and I'm loving it!!!
This weekend we are playing volleyball I have a net set up in my yard The neighbors come over and we all play until we can't see our hands I have a blast There is a kid who plays BB and loves playing with me because I know how to stick.
Thanks I am trying really hard for my chapter because I have to do the fitness contest in March, so I'm very DETERMINE. If it wasn't for my son and being the coolest person on the street All the neighborhood kids love coming over to play.
