I had very athletic and muscle-bound step brothers that would bet me money to do push ups and always talked about lifting and exercise. Also an old neighbor of mine, like a brother was an inspiration to start doing exercise.
I had a little 7 lb weight and got to the point of doing it 200 times on each arm in a row when I was about 12. I had my first gym set at 14 and would lift in front of pictures of Arnold, Yates, and Wheeler in my room.
High school came with football, gained 25 lbs of muscle. Only got up to 165 lbs. at my max before this new lifting venture since 2006.
Why I Love It:
Pain and gain, not to be sick or anything.
This is something that I can control in my life (size and strength) where so many other things everyone, including myself, cannot control.
The iron does not lie, cheat, or change at the gym. You can push the weight or not. Mental strength along with commitment makes that constant (the weights), or a person, change a non-changing aspect in life--which is that weight, and if you can push it; it is a beautiful thing.
How I Stay Motivated:
Watching Pumping Iron on non-gym days or days I'm feeling low before the gym. Also the Cost of Redemption with Ronny Coleman. Jay Cutler Ripped to Shreds.
While doing my weaker exercises at the gym or the one's that I know and can feel I am lacking in, on the last three reps that are burning--I think of walking on stage from behind that curtain, the lights, and the feeling Im going to have when walking off the stage my first time--win or lose.
BB Accomplishments:
10th place novice middle weight Ronnie Coleman Classic 2007
5th place noice middle weight Ronnie Coleman Classic 2008
3rd place Men's open light heavyweight Upper Ohio Valley Championships 2008
Overall winner and 1st mens middleweight Heart of Texas 2008

1st in mens middle weight open ronnie coleman classic 2009
Now that I'm nationally qualified I've accomplished my goal in three years now I have one year to go PRO!
Goal (Long):
Working everyday as hard as possible in the gym and at everything I do. Doing as much research as possible so I can further my learning. I am studying for my personal trainers license and might go back to college and get a nutrition degree so to better understand everything that I am doing to my body (supplements, training, lifestyle, etc).
Lifting five times a week always going balls to the wall and leaving everything at the gym (taking about an hour to ramp down from the pump feels great--if not lasting all night) is my daily goal.
Stepping on a stage, in great condition, whether it is a gym member only show or a small city show will happen in the next three years. I might even go just for the experience even if I know that I do not have it yet.
In five to six years I would like to place at a regional show in my weight class. Which I did on March 28th and April 18th of 2009.
From there...who knows? Staying injury and stretch mark free I would like to compete in a state or national event.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 30 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
5%
Upcoming Contest:
national show

Well I was looking for the best way to get ready for my second show when I saw Rocky IV. sly was running in the snow with a log on his back and doing vertical sit ups in the barn along with a bunch of homemade workouts to get ready to fight the Russian. That gave me the idea! Why not go up to...
