When I Started:
Apr, 2008
How I Started:
I have always been athletic and active but at some point that is no longer enough. The first time I realized I needed to get in shape was in 2000. At that time I did the Body For Life plan and loved it. I was fixed from all my airport meals and hours at a desk.
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel good and keeps me in shape so I can play basketball with much younger athletes. Keeps my stress in balance.
How I Stay Motivated:
Set goals, check progress regularly, mix up my workout and do things like this (put myself on the web) for a little interaction and support. It also help to have a strong sense of vanity.
BB Accomplishments:
Fitness is my thing. Functional strength and fitness. Gotta have a "thing", right?

I plan to gain muscle and lose fat simultaneously. Will get my waist to 36" at its biggest point in 60 days...and a clean 34" in 120 days.
Goal (Long):
I want to be lean and muscular like I have typically been in my life. When I gain fat I snore and my wife begins to sleep in the other room. That will not fly!
I plan to mow my lawn without my shirt on, turn heads of women young and old, and feel great about myself (shallow, I know). I need to improve my speed and mobility on the basketball court.
Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
No
Why or why not?
I think I stay more determined when I keep my goals between myself and my wife. Seems like when I talk about it I'm not longer doing it from internal drive.

What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Set some goals. Have some 90-day goals, monthly or even weekly goals. Check progress weekly.
My goal this week is to trim 1" off my waist (it's week one so I can do this).

What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
I love the stair climber. It cuts my thighs so much I need band aids. I make myself run alot because it helps me play basketball and I enjoy running a 5k or two. But, I really don't like it. Wow! So much has changed since my last entry I'm not sure where to start. Most of us know that significant change means lost focus. And I did. Among the changes are a move. I just found my new gym and I'm back at work but only after losing alot of my progress. I know, too, that alot will...
