When I Started:
Dec, 2007
How I Started:
This year, my students are being encouraged to dream big, make a plan to reach that dream, and then carry out those plans. They tied their dreams to a balloon (biodegradable, bird-friendly) and let them go. I tied my dream of weighing under 215 lbs. to a balloon and let it go.
Why I Love It:
I love experiencing the strenght that I'm gaining - the physical, mental, and spiritual.
How I Stay Motivated:
I have a bulletin board in my classroom with my progress toward my goal displayed. My students, my wife, and my children are my greatest cheerleaders. The compliments from others sure does help, too.

By January 8th, I will weigh 200 lbs. with a bodyfat percentage of 19%.
Goal (Long):
By January 8th, 2010 I will weigh 200 lbs. with a bodyfat percentage of 19%. This will require a drop of 10 lbs. of fat a month - a safe, sustainable amount for a man of my age. I will reach this goal by beginning the twelve week transformation this Monday and follow the cardio, weight training, supplementation, and eating schedule. By the end of these first twelve weeks, I will have the confidence, knowledge, and the further encouragement to continue with the bodybuilding lifestyle to reach this, my ultimate goal - ending a long cycle of abuse and lethargy.
What celebrity body would you most like to have? Why?

Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
Rotator cuff about 14 years ago. I let it sideline me and my lifting for 15 years. I would start up again, reinjure it, and let that be an excuse to sleep in in the morning. This time, I took advantage of the two free personal training sessions that my gym offers, and she showed me the best way to lift without injuring it again. What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
Trying to impress others with more weight, which also increases bad form.
So, the guy on the 12-week transformation videos said to go, right now, and take your picture with your shirt off. I thought "yeah, that will serve as a mild motivator." I had no idea that I looked like that! It literally made me sick to my stomach, which makes it easier to...
Hey you!!!!! :) How interesting that your school went in that direction! I wonder if a lot of schools will be doing something similar? I have several teacher friends who would be very disappointed at having to take down their facebooks! :) time to update goal since you smashed that last one!
Back to the classroom on Monday? We return to school January 5. Part of me is looking forward to it, of course, but, yeah, part of me wishes it was JUNE. lol :D
Aw, what a kind and sweet message - many, many thanks, my friend!! And YAY for your 12-week challenge!! Definitely post more often so we know how you're doing - you've been missed :)
