Here I am as a 21 year old in 1983. Isn't pretty.
This picture was taken during my 2008 Colorado State routine. It is the best shot of my quads yet.
Goal 1: I want to have a musclar physique and compete well in my first bodybuilding competition.
Goal 2: Win a bantam weight open class bb competition.
Goal (Long):
I was literally the 120 lb weakling in high school. So most sports were not available to me. I have been a fairly successful triathlete, but am looking for a new challenge. I currently weigh 132 and am at 9% body fat (Jan 20, 2008). For the contest on March 15, I would like to be say 135 @ 5.5% body fat. This would translate to a gain of about 5 lbs of muscle mass.
Update on March 20, 2008. I am several days out from my first competition. My weight has stabalized at around 135 lbs and 8% body fat. I have my eyes on the Cyto Charge Body Building competition in July. I can compete in the bantam weight open division which means I can weigh up to 144.25lbs. What I hope for is maybe 140lbs and 8% body fat in the July time frame. That would be pretty awesome for me.
What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
I like to run. It probably hurts my bodybuilding, but I am pretty good at it. I just ran a half marathon in sub 1:25. I was in the top 1% of men in my age group.
I am looking at a spring 2009 competition. I am at 140 lbs now. I would love to get to 150 by Dec 31. That would probably put me back here at 140, but with five or six additional pounds of muscle, for the show. That would be ten pounds heavier than the state show.
Lots of middleweights and the top 6 could win most shows. Steve Hess (multiple wins and 1st at CO), Yusef (1st at Rocky and 3rd at CO), ... I normally place 2nd or 3rd in the middleweights but ended up in the middle of the pack. Grrrrr.....
hhahha, thats hilarious.. Your trainer, well, yeah, probably pick one or the other when hoping to compete and do well. But, do you think, like you are already, just doing the triathlon for fun, rather than for competition/ aspiring to do well, then maybe you'll be just fine. (As long as you don't overdo yourself doing tri)
You at least brought home hardware. I'm glad they were rewarding a more classic shape for the guys! Hopefully they'll start figuring out what they want from figure girls sometime (still haven't in something like 13 years lol). CONGRATS TO YOU!
Thats so cool that you entered your first competition. BB competition is a whole nother world to me! Your pic looks very impressive and defined. Simply being fit enough to do a BB comp says a lot.
