Background

When I Started: Jan 2012
HOW I STARTED:

I needed to get back to who I was to become a better who I am. I got away from training in my thirties and that lost decade is haunting me right now. It is time to get back on track.

WHY I LOVE IT:

It is a sense of accomplishment and challenge that cannot be paralleled.

My Workout Program

OK -- here we go.

I am aiming for the August 7 Upstate Clasic in Spartanburg SC for an onstage debut. It will allow me to meet my fitness goal of competing prior to my 40th birthday which will be 17 days later.

I am going with a 4 part split with a 5 day training schedule. Here is how it works.

1 -- Chest, Triceps
2 -- Quadriceps, Abdominals
3 -- Deltoids, Biceps
4 -- Back, Hamstrings

Each bodypart will be trained 5 times over a 4 week period and the split is one I used many years ago with positive results.

I will keep you updated as I go. Dave

Back to the grind

Posted in Training  :  Jan 11, 2012 3:25pm

I gave Mike O'Hearn's Power Bodybuilding a test drive last week and really liked it.  I know at age 41 it will be hard getting back to a max lifting type of program, but I can follow this to a T and only need to concentrate on nutrition to get where I want to be when my brother gets married in 13 and a half weeks.  I am planning to stretch the checkbook to take care of my family matters with my wife and still prep for the 2013 contest season in South Carolina.  Will discuss more in a future blog.  Gonna eat now.

Been out of action too long

Posted in Training  :  Dec 28, 2010 5:37pm
Have been dealing with a shoulder injury (and I am an athletic trainer, too).  Will be returning to gym after returning from parents' home in Ohio for the holidays (no money for day passes to YMCA). I have a possible torn labrum in my right shoulder.  I have been out for a few weeks to let swelling go down and have researched ways to modify my training to put less pressure on shoulder during all lifts.  Will keep everyone appraised of my situationa dn how you can train with and around injury.  Webby

The destructive power of procrastination

Posted in Training  :  Dec 28, 2010 5:37pm
If you allow yourself the chance to wait, you might. If you allow yourself the chance to fail, you will. If you allow yourself the chance to succeed, you must. Waiting to do something only means you are trying to find a way out of achieving what God has provided for you.
