Fit Status:
Currently training for a back to back competition in June. Need to gain 10 more pounds before cutting in next 7 weeks.
I was told by a friend in June '08 that I should join him in a BB competition in October because he saw I had what it took. I stepped up my workouts, changed my diet and took the challenge to see what I could do to transform my body in a short period of time.
Why I Love It:
I feel great. I feel more motivated to do everything in life. It gets the blood moving. It's a challenge. I love challenges that are motivating.
How I Stay Motivated:
By making my commitment and not dropping out. I'm committed to prove that I can do it. My wife, jfkrn05, is also a huge help. She helps spot me and push me to get that weight up. If I'm feeling tired she tells me it's not an option. I also get to laugh when guys at the gym, who know nothing of my competition goals, see her spotting me like Jay Cutler's wife did for him.

Goal (Long):
With only 11 months of training and having my first competition behind me, I can say it was an experience. The science of the body and how it reacts to diet and serious intense training has fascinated me. To see that I can actually do what I set out to accomplish was truly amazing. Never in a million years had I thought I could/would do this. I'm so glad that I met the people that I did when I decided I needed to do something about my health. I had dreamed of being a body builder when I was a kid. I didn't know where to start or have the money to have a coach. Thanks to a friend, MAX.MAREK, who has volunteered himself to being a great coach, I have been able to live a dream and continue to live it every day. My wife has been a great support too. Not only watching me go through the changes that I have gone through, but being that person in the gym that pushes me to slam out one more rep before I drop the weight out of laziness. No excuse or look on my face is good enough for her to say, "you should take it easy today." Between my wife and my friend/coach, there isn't anyone else that can push me harder. Eventually (when it happens) I'll have a couple of my own kids to push me around too LOL.
He's awesome. No matter what he may be dealing with in life or however his day might be going, he's always got a positive response to messages and comments. Not to mention he was the first profile I ever saw on BB.com and has the sickest abs!!! Can't wait to see his comp photos a year from now.

i usually look forward to my bed time protein shake. The BSN Syntha-6 vanilla is almost like having a vanilla pudding snack. Mix a half or quarter scoop of chocolate whey protein and it's like having icing on the pudding snack. YUM. What are your secrets for making healthy food taste great?
If it's a bland muffin, add some peanut butter. If it's egg-whites, add something salsa or some hot sauce to it. Where do you find healthy recipes to try?
I just kind of throw stuff together. Now that I'm 2 weeks out from my very first competition, I'm realizing I'm either being a bit too picky or I haven't quite followed everything exactly correct. Keeping in mind that I've only been at this for 20 weeks now and knowing that everyone's body type, how they process & burn...
does your wife have a profile here? i like to lift.. HEAVY!!! lol.. say hello to her.. why can't i find a partner 4 my w'os like her? lol... well, i guess im not going to find one unless i change my membership to another gym...
...hell... i dont really like these doing-nothing walking-around-butterflies-gir ls b/c they are stealing room and spots to the people who realy go to lift and need them... the gym where i go to has about 2000 members or maybe more... sometimes is pretty difficult to workout there..
wowww, love to know she lifts, supports you and plays a big role as your training buddy... hehehe... is not what i've seen down here, lol... wives are doing cardio while hubbys are lifting... just me and 2 or 3 other girls in the free-weights room and lifting lifting me and another girl who worked there as PT.. the others are walking around with make-up all over their faces and 10 or 12 pounds n each hand...

of course, i guess i didnt see you around in Salinas... were you one of the guys on the pic i took in Carmel?? lol... even when Salinas scared me a lot, i think the gym was pretty neat and clean... the opposite to where i go to down here in Miami, Bally is a mess...
ohhh maybe.. they maybe want new faces and bodies from Golds... lol.. may you believe that i only saw 2 guys in your area that look like if they were going to the gym to lift... lol.. it was in Carmel... i took a pic of them from my car... lol... in Salinas everybody was flat or fat... lol...
yes, i know Monterey, Ca and Monterrey, Mex... hahaha... Point Lobos, Santa Cruz, San Jose, San Fco... and many other towns around... hahaha... BTW, i dont like Salinas, that town scares me a little bit... i knew the gym where i went to was closed... lol..
