Background

When I Started: Oct 1984
HOW I STARTED:

started gaining weight a year out of college, even a few pounds of excess weight is a drag. joined a local fitness center and started out doing mostly 'circuit training' on machines and primarily cardio. changed cities and gyms and met up with some buddies, all of us in our 20s, we became gym rats. once i discovered free weights and muscle building, i was hooked, there was no turning back.

WHY I LOVE IT:

diet and weight training is THE fountain of youth. once you understand that, there's no going back. based on the feedback i get, i'm defying the aging process and it feels great having developed awesome diet, exercise and weight training habits that set an example for others

By some accounts, my weight training and focus on healthy living and eating habits is viewed as obsessive. It is a cheap shot those who struggle with diet and exercise like to take. I proudly admit, you can not tempt me to the fast food drive through anymore. And yes, red meat, dairy, processed food and just about everything shelved in the supermarket has zero appeal.

fluid1 That is strange, to drink that while working out? I tend to have a protein shake about 1 hour out from training, so the protein is in my bloodstream when I'm at the gym. I take Assault, Creatine, and Glutamine about :30 out from training, and then Re-Con in the gym immediately after completing my last rep. :30 after the workout, another protein shake. :) Glad to hear you are sticking to it, I'm sure many people will want to see how it goes for you! :) May 11, 2012 5:12am

VillainChien Wow, you lost 20 lbs? See, I bulked up to 200 lbs., only for the 2nd time. It's hard. But I did it using the PITT program. I'm down at around 193 right now, but at around 18% body fat. I'm trying to slowly lower my weight. I'd like to be at 10% body fat and 185 lbs. Anyway, I'm not following Gethin's diet. I'm actually starting to carb cycle. Anyway, I'm going to read up on your Shortcut there. Cheers! ViCh May 6, 2012 9:35am

VillainChien Hey, Mike! I'll have to watch for your progress on the Shortcut to Size program. I just starting looking at it. Looks interesting. I'm doing the Kris Gethin program, but not his diet. In my opinion, Gethin's program if for someone with a ton of mass already, but fat. Still, I'll making some solid gains with it. But this program for pure size sounds interesting.
