When I Started:
Nov, 2007
How I Started:
I stopped smoking two years ago last September (yeah!). I began running to get me through this addiction. It stuck. I started competing in local events...5 and 10k's, and I found out...I'm not that bad of a runner! As of last summer, my runs were 5, 7miles per week with a long run of 10-12 miles. About 45 miles/week. Not bad for an ex-smoker!
Then...I developed a minor injury in my achilles tendon. This slowed me down, significantly, so I started lifting weights a bit more.
Now, I want to compete!!
Why I Love It:
The standard answer...I love working out, because I just makes me feel great!
I love the soreness of a great workout.
I love meeting my personal goals in the gym.
I love a dripping sweat that accompanies an intense workout.
I love the people I meet.
I love the feeling of personal satisfaction.
How I Stay Motivated:
Determination drives me to stay motivated.
I am determined to be healthy to see my grandchildren grow up..I don't have then yet, but someday I will!
I am determined to be a positive influence in my son's life.
I am determined to reach my personal goals.
These, and MANY other reason gets me motivated!!
Luke, Mary, Julie, Teri, Bonnie
They say when one door closes another one opens. On Monday I closed a sad door. Graduation was last weekend, and I decided not to do the walk (it's THREE hours long!!), so the reality of being done wasn't really felt. But when I watched Mary get into their...
This work out was designed based on a the best qualities of several plans that I believe work best for me. I have customized it to keep my muscles guessing. A guessing muscle is a growing muscle =)
Weeks 1-3: 3 sets of 10 10 lbs
Weeks 4-8: 4 sets of 5 25
Weeks 7-9: ...
Your blog message made me tear up when I read it.... thank you for being an amazing friend, especially with the goings-ons of this week! Love ya and hope we can meet someday :)
Yup, definitely better physically, thank you, love!! Gonna catch up with your blog tonight, but I hope you're doing well and enjoying your HIIT sessions :)
How dare you say the SC words! ;) LOL No, I enjoy going places for a few days here and there over the summer, plus I plan to compete, so I don't want to have to deal with that AND a class. BUT I only have 3 real semesters left, so I don't see the need.
hey girl... I have no idea..I am maybe thinking about a contest (the same I did last year) in Oct. i am 20 weeks or so out...but my trainer is going to have to be the call on that...I may have to wait till next spring. I could really use a goal though... what about you??
I have ~35 songs whose beat are conducive to running that I call my running music....but I don't wear my ipod when I run. As for the race, my 2 eldest kids may volunteer at a water station (miles 5&7). The course is fan friendly so my wife and youngest should be at ~.5, 3.3, 8, 15 all my walking only a few blocks, then they'll head to the finish (another 2 block walk)
I don't run with an ipod. But when I'm running often tunes will jump into my head. Often the tunes that jump into my head are from the Boomtown Rats. It used to be if I was running well I'd get "Keep it Up". When I was running poorly it'd be "I don't like Mondays" Recently I've been hearing that when I've been running well too. Other tunes that jump in there are the Roots "Sacrifice", and a few 1 line Hebrew Prayers.
I have been VERY bad at blogging here lately. Maye tonight I will have something to write about! LOL....I don't like writing boring blogs though so even if I do have something to write about, it will not always be posted. I know, I know!
Oh hehe. Sorry! I'll be competing in figure. Each state has a championship show that is a National Qualifier. There are other national qualifiers, too, but there's always something cool about being able to say you're the State Champion ;)
Hey Mama! PLYO day, I jumped like I never jumped before, than I went to the track to do suicides only to find where they had hidden the hurdles, so spent time with more jumping! What about you mama?
Happy Mother's Day, beautiful lady!! Been kind of a mellow weekend - I think I was in a coma yesterday from all the sleep I got! lol I hope you have/had a wonderful weekend!!
I did post a couple of body blogs. I'll post pictures and update some stuff when I get back home. I want to use the same scales before I left. I take it your doing ok.
