When I Started:
Jun, 2007
How I Started:
I go in spurts. I started working out when I met my husband. I lift with him. I have a low level of willpower, so I always seem to find a reason to taper off my workouts after a few weeks, just when I'm showing some progress.
Why I Love It:
I love knowing that I can make changes in my body for the better. I feel so much better mentally and physically when I'm in the gym.
How I Stay Motivated:
Ahhh, well see that is the problem. I am REALLY into lifting and seeing the changes. But then again, if something in life comes up, it has always been easy just to "put off" going to the gym. And because of that, it's been easy to eat "whatever" just because it's quick. And there I am in a vicious cycle of getting great results, only to let my motivation wane and have a nice layer of fat cover my gains.

Where in the heck did the definition in my back go??? Oh, I must have left it in freaking McDonald's drive-thru! UGHHHHH!
I hate to say it, but in November I didn't even realize I had that layer of bf on my back. Seeing the difference here, it's obvious. I still don't have the definition, but at least I'm shedding some of the crap I've been eating.
I want to transform my body in ways that I never imagined.
Goal (Long):
I have gained quite a bit of flab due to hormonal shifts...it's fun stuff being a woman, lol. :D I know that there is a strong woman inside and I am determined to bring her out! My 8 year old calls me "Iron Mom" when I'm in the gym. I want him to be able to do that and not have other people look at him crazy when he does it. I want them to see "Iron Mom" and think it's true! :D I want to build LOTS of muscle and at the same time, I need to shed all of this body fat I've accumulated, mostly in my abdominal area. I am not pleased with what I see in the mirror. I plan to change that.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 4 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
13%

What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
I love it! I grunt and spit like a man, I can't be bothered with what everyone else thinks. They aren't lifting for me, lol.

What type of outfit do you usually wear when you workout? Why?
Shorts and a workout shirt. What I wear depends on the bodypart being worked. If I work chest, I want to see my pecs contract, so I'll wear something more revealing. If I'm working shoulders, I make sure to have no sleeves, etc. It's a motivator for me.Shorts and a workout shirt. What I wear depends on the bodypart being worked. I am getting so much out of this site! Looking at all of these ripped bodies, and even those who haven't made it yet, but shine with determination...it's just overwhelming! I'm really glad we can all motivate each other. I've been driven to get fit before, but never this much. It's...
I don't have a set amount of weight that I lift. I lift, as a general rule of thumb, a medium-light weight w/ 12 reps as a warm up. Then I lift a moderate weight for 8 reps x2, then I lift a heavy weight for 6 reps x2 for any given exercise. I do abs everytime I workout, before I...
New progress pics! Nice job. We miss you around here. Oh, and we FINALLY made the decision to get rid of the junk food in the vending machine once and for all. We had quite the fight (by e-mail) but 90% of the people here voted for it. So we are finally finishing the good idea that you started. FINALLY.
Hey girl! What happened to all your progress pics? How's training going? I've decided (with a nudge from a good friend) to compete in a triathlon this August. I start training on Monday. I'm nervous! LOL
Thanks for your comment!! :) I've still got a long way to go to get to where I want to be. My new program has me lifting 5 days a week, cardio 6 days a week and has weekly mini-challenges to keep me focused! How are you these days? :)
Hey girly! How's it going? It's been a while! I finished my BFL challenge and am onto another one (this one a little different and more hardcore). Still jealous of your abs!!
Congrats on the new house! I know all about that craziness. We moved in the beginning of January ourselves and we're still unpacking! :o) I'll bet you miss the gym though. I know I did.
