I needed something to fill the void after finishing wrestling in high school... lifting weights and pursuing other athletic achievements has been an excellent character builder that gives me an even greater appreciation of dedication, desire, and hard work
Why I Love It:
It's great to be able to physically see how altering nutrition and fitness changes your physical and mental state
How I Stay Motivated:
That natural high, pushing my physical limits, seeing and feeling the results of my efforts
BB Accomplishments:
none... maybe someday
-Just finished the Men's Health Urbanathlon in Chicago on 10/17/09. Finished in the top 5% and had an excellent time in the hail. Excited to run it again next year.

My favorite bicep work out starts with wt pull-ups for 3 sets x max reps. The next exercise is DB curls at 3 sets x 6-8 reps w/ a drop set by 10 lbs on the last set for 8+ reps. Then, I usually go to a barbell pyramid curl set starting at a lighter wt for 15 reps and adding wt and doing less reps non stop. Here is an example of the pyramid (ex: 40lbs x 15reps, 50lbs x 12reps, 60lbs x 8-10 reps, 70lbs x 4-6 reps up and then the same wt and rep ranges back down). Other exercises I might do include preacher curls, reverse curls, and end with max of 2 sets pull ups non weighted. My favorite bicep work out starts with wt pull-ups for 3 sets x max reps. Hi Tyler, thank you for your nice comment and thank you for your encouragement!I just uploaded the video from the triathlon on my profile at bb.com page. I hope I can continue to do that well. I think I set the bar too high from the beginning :) Take care brother, In Christ, Amilcar

Hi Tyler, Just to let you know - I did my first sprint triathlon last Saturday and it was lots of fun. I think I'm hooked. It was a very cool experience.. I took 2nd from 12 people from my age group and I took 14th from 93 male competitors(15th from 127 overall). A few more info on my blog. Take care. In Christ, Amilcar
Thanks Tyler. I'm actually going to watch my brother in-law in a triathlon this coming weekend 7/14/07 so I'll have an idea on what to expect.(He wants me to go in it but I rather wait a little longer). It won't be the same course though. One good news,I was able to increase my bike speed to 16.8mph (14 miles in 50 minutes).I finally found the "right gear" but I'll try to improve-I got 5 more weeks to go. Thanks for thr tips. Take care. In Christ, Amilcar
Hey Tyler, is 15.27mph a good speed for biking in a triathlon? I only have a mountain bike and I don't seem to be breaking the speed any faster. Let me know your thoughts.. Thanks buddy. Lookign good! In Christ, Amilcar
