My father bought weights for my oldest brother back when I was 12 years old. It was those old plastic and concrete plates with plastic collars by York. My father who has began his day with a routine of calisthenics all my life, was my inspiration.
Why I Love It:
It keeps me sane... to train insane. LOL!
Quite a bit of truth to that actually. When I was younger I would have said I trained with the mentality of a bodybuilder... training for aesthetics. Now, close to my third decade since I first started, I would say aesthetics is second or third in terms of my motivation and priorities. I train mainly because I love it. Its become an end in itself. The pumps, the soreness, the setbacks and successes, I embrace it all. Though admittedly, I could still do with abit less of the injuries.
How I Stay Motivated:
BB Accomplishments:
Since 2007, I have been a spokesmodel for the supplement company Controlled Labs, appearing in their multi-page "Winning the War agaisnt Genetics" ads featured in magazines such as Flex, Muscular Development, Fitness- RX and Muscle and Fitness. Additionally, in 2009, I was featured in two training pictorials in the aforementioned Muscle and Fitness, including the popular "Caveman Training" article for Mixed martial artists. Known for having an unconventional approach to training and nutrition, I also star in the aptly named "Train Insane with Kane" video series hosted by Bodybuilding.com.
