Back in 2004 tipping the scale at 305 lbs and after waking up a few nights gasping for breath I knew I needed to do something. The whole incident gave me a pretty good scare. I was inspired by friends who were competing I decided bodybuilding was the best way to save myself from an early death and also the best way to keep myself focused and maintaining a healthy life style.
Why I Love It:
The adrenaline rush...the inexaustable energy...natural high. The knowledge that in the end my achievements are a gift to myself. Seeing others inspired to do the same which makes me feel great...even if bodybuilding is not thier goal.
How I Stay Motivated:
Support at the gym from friends who have similar goals.
My trainer, Dave Edgell.
Setting new goals and always preparing for that next show.
Lots of oatmeal!!
BB Accomplishments:
Competed in the NGA Mr. Utah compitition April 2009. Placed 5th.
Placed 4th in the Novice Heavyweight division at the 2009 NGA Mountain States Competition.
ABA 2009 Team USA: Placed 2nd in the mens novice tall division.

I want to compete, win and eventually earn my pro card.
Goal (Long):
I'm hoping to gain about 10 plus pounds and lean out to about 4% bodyfat by the time the fall competitions start.
More specificaly I'd like to gain about 2 or 3 inches on my arms, legs and improve the definition of my abs.
This guy is a clear example of what you can achieve if you want it bad enough, and never give up even against the most difficult odds. Just read his profile nuff said! This guy is THE definition of inspiration!!
Needs no explantion. But what the hell!! This gal is as dedicated to staying fit as they come. Like many of us out there she has come along way and has learned allot and been kind enough to share her experience and enthusiasm. Her blogs are very inspiration in and of themselves, especially when it comes to proper nutrition. Anyone read her "CRAP PUSHERS" blog? If you've ever had some out of shape person ridicule you for eating healthy you will really enjoy it!!
What should look for in a gym? What should you avoid?
Gyms that are so imursed in corporate BS that all they care about is getting you locked into a long term binding contract. Especially if you are a beginner just starting out; a gym should allow you the option of starting on a trial basis and paying month to month.Gyms that are so imursed in corporate BS that all they care about is getting you locked into a long term binding contract. Where do you mainly workout?
Gym
Why? What are the pros and cons of working out there?
The main con for me is the temptation to become distracted by talking to much. The pro is the atmosphere and the influence of being around other like minded poeple. Of course having access to all the great equipment is a plus. The main con for me is the temptation to become distracted by talking to much. Have you ever had a lifting injury?
Yes
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
I had a back injury that took me about a month to fully recover from. To recover I did allot of stretching, kept working my abs as best as I could, and chose exercises that would not agravate my injury. Basicaly I avoided free weights for awhile, and added an extra rest day to my routine for a few weeks.I had a back injury that took me about a month to fully recover from.
