Last October, a friend of mine, a personal trainer/bodybuilder was getting ready for a show and asked me if I had ever thought about competing.
He told me about Figure Competitions and gave me a couple websites. After a lot of reading and research, I decided to do it. I started going at it blindly and was getting very frustrated. Then I had a little teeny bit of structure but it didn't last long.
After giving up...I decided that I have to do this for real and if I mean business I need get off my fluffy @#$# and work. I never really felt that I was excellent at one thing (besides eating and TV watching). I've been an aerobic instructor for a year and now I want to go through the hardest most frustrating time of my life and let this commitment payoff.
Why I Love It:
Because its hard!! It takes someone who is not quite right in the head to do this. Bodybuilders, we are a sadistic people.
I keep doing it because I finally like what I see. I'm not satisfied with being ordinary.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don’t now where it comes from but its an awesome feeling when you look in the mirror at the muscle that you are working and you see definition…you zone in on that area and you tighten up and push. When I'm done training and my muscles are screaming…It feels so good and even though I’m dripping with sweat and exhausted, I smile. It hurts so good and that keeps me going.

Taking first place in my first Competition.

I want to make this a career. I want to get my pro card. I want to become a trainer/nutritionist and help other people (born with the fat gene just like me) fight to look and feel their best.
One day I'll be that mother who looks as good if not better then her 20 year old daughter. One day, if I ever get married, I'll be the wife whose husband gets upset when I put clothes on and always wants me to walk around half naked when he has his boys over...LOL!!!
What do you do before your workout to get motivated and energized?
I look in the mirror...may sound vain but if I'll see where I need to make improvement and think about how hard I need to work to meet my goal and get me to the next level.
The other day Mark mentioned to me that I don’t interact like I used to...that I’ve been using training as an excuse not to go out or participate in the UFC events that I’m always avid about attending. Well, its true...and since I’m on a medical hiatus from competing and am forced to...
My weekend was cool, I was in Az for vacation. It was hot!..lol. Besides that i'm still training, trying to get to 250lbs. Im 20lbs away so i'll make it!..:)..How are you doing? Are you going to the Olympia?
