I got started on working out off-and-on for the entirely selfish reason that I wanted to look good to be looked at, only to realize that I also need to overcome some serious obstacles in my family situation (My family has a history of bad health including stroke, heart attack, cancer, alzheimers, etc.).
Why I Love It:
I enjoy the pump! (Remember Arnold!) It's a rush feeling those muscles fill up with blood and look great!
How I Stay Motivated:
I look at my first picture and look in the mirror at myself from time to time. I study like crazy, ask buff people lots of questions, and pray to Jesus for the strength to continue.
BB Accomplishments:
I've gone from 30% bodyfat to about 18%. I've bulked up to 25%, and since April am down to 22%. I could have worked harder, especially with respect to my lack of control with food.
Ok, so I'm addicted to Jim's writing (www.jimcordova.com). He's a brother in Christ, and writing really good stuff. I'm proud of what he's been able to accomplish in his relatively short life. However, I've come to this new (NOT!!) realization that I'm still eating too much. I did...
I'm using a Mike Mentzer routine three days a week. There's an A day and a B day. Then, every other day, I do a 40-60 minute walk on the treadmill. 3.5miles per hour. Two minutes at a 3% incline, then 3 minutes at a 7% incline. I alternate that until I have finished the 40 minutes.
I'm not an early morning exercise person. That's the best time for cardio, not necessarily for lifting. You need energy for your workout and fuel to recover from your workout. I wouldn't be too concerned about where you fit your workout in between the meals. If you can to your cardio in the morning, great. As long as you do it after your lifting (you will burn more reserves than doing it before) you will be all right.
To maximize my time, I do supersets with a minute or less in between. I do my cardio immediately after the weights.
Form is really important so you don't injure yourself. You want to make sure you get a good contraction of the muscle at it's apex. Hope that helps.
Best,
-G

Thanks, Jeff! The equipment you have is fine and will do the job...diet will be the key to getting those abs popping.
Best of luck on your goals!

You do need to cyvcle off most supplements for a couple weeks after 6-8 weeks. You get too used to it and your body may foget how to make its own. It is meant to supplement you. I have been on Gaspari supps for a year I think
when muscles expand in a pump (water pulled in) it ultimately increases growth at a faster rate. I can hold a pump for about an hour and it goes down slowly after that. My arms actually swell about 25% sometimes between my tris and bis
I always superset or use bodyweight exercises after doing 3 heavy sets with anything. I never rest much for an hour and 1/2 of training. Ex: leg press, 3 sets of 8-12, then run over and do pull ups.
I don't actually count calories. I probably eat between 3000-3500 calories per day. If you have eating for life go to the website and you can download all the nutritional info for each meal. Take care.
Actually eating for life is the only Bill Phillips book I own (actually I got a free success journal after I submitted my pics and essay). I love it it is the best recipe book. I reccomend it to everyone.
