I wanted to play football in H.S. but I was just too skinny and small. So I started working out in my garage, using my dad's 100 lb. weight bench set.
Why I Love It:
Working out allows me to clear my mind and helps me to sleep better. It keeps me in a healthy environment.
How I Stay Motivated:
Competition keeps me motivated. The fact that I'm a fitness professional is also a big reason. I plan on establishing my own Physical Therapy/Fitness Clinic so I have to have some fitness to me; I've got to be an example of what I offer.
BB Accomplishments:
Not so much bodybuilding, more endurance sports. You won't believe this (because of my fat ass...) but I've completed:
6 full Ironman Triathlons
2 ultramarations (50k and 50 mile runs)
16 marathons
20 shorter triathlons (half-Ironmans, olympic distance tris and sprints)
I have several nationally accredited certifications and will be finishing my doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2011:
NSCA-CPT (will be CSCS by July)
NCSF-CPT
APEX CPT (24 hour fitness cert)
ASCA Level 2 Masters and Age Group Swim Coach
AEA Water Exercise Cert.
USA Cycling Level 3 Coach
USA Swimming (11 years as head coach)
USA Triathlon Level 1 Coach

I look even fatter here!!!
Mirror shot; the contest may be over but not for me!!!
Another 55+ mile run week. Held 10 min/mile at 120-124 bpm. Ran 18+ today. Averaged 10 min/mile. Ran 8 min/miles the last couple of miles at 138 bpm; wasn't even breathing heavy. I can't wait to start my speed training in late November. I've g0t 2 more miles to make 60 for the...
Thanks a million, your before/after pic is incredible!!! WOW! I think mine will be even more noticeable once I post another this aug 13th... I only like to post pics once per month...its easier to tell a difference hehe.
Take care!
Oh my gosh, how awesome are you?! What a sweet comment! :) It came at such a NICE time too, because I am all grumpy and stuff from my lack of carbs. LOL!! :)
lol! Your message really made me laugh! You're very sweet. Yes I could definitely use better pics or have someone take them...but they track my progress and that's good enough for me! :0) Ok I'll look forward to your mirror shots. We'll see how well you can do!
Thanks for the advice about the warmup. Before the race I had an opportunity to do a little practice swimming, which I think would have eliminated the problem I had, but I didn't take advantage of the opportunity. If I had done about 200 yards of swimming with about 50 yards of fast swimming in there I probably wouldn't have had a problem at all. Next time!
How's it going, Dave? Finished my first Olympic tri yesterday. It went pretty well (full story in the blog) but I learned a lot about what to do differently next time. Started off rough -- I felt like my wetsuit was preventing air from entering my lungs after only 100 yards or so -- but I evened things out and got going. Good luck with your plans!
I am SO glad that I could contribute to your day in that way! That makes me feel good! Glad I could help...I will put up another one sometime next week so check back ;) KIT
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! those links were the best gift EVER! =) i feel soooo much more solid as far as where i am in my training now! well, all but the swim.. haha =)
Thanks alot for responding man. You answered 2/3 of my question and a little on the side. I see where you're saying isolations will help add a new change. I've been back and fourth with using them and not using them. I see ppl that are huge use all kinds of iso and compounds and then you can see huge football players only do like cleans and bench and what have you not even wasting time with isolation. See where i'm getting at? (awesome competitions btw)
I get called a "dude" sometimes, but what the Hell? I like my pecs and am afraid implants might ruin them. There can be alot of complications. Hows your training going?
