Background

When I Started: May 1990
HOW I STARTED:

I played competitive athletics in almost every sport in high school and up to the level of minor league baseball and European league football; I always carried a lot muscle. In 1990 I was just screwing around in the gym when someone came up to me and said I should compete in bodybuilding. Three months later I did my first show and won the overall title; the rest is as follows: · 2006 11th place heavyweight NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships · 2005 1st place Heavyweight NPC Los Angeles Bodybuilding Championships · 2005 11th place heavyweight NPC USA Bodybuilding Championships · 2004 9th place heavyweight NPC National Bodybuilding Championships · 2004 “Mr. Oregon” (OVERALL TITLE) · 2003 Emerald Cup (1st place heavyweight division) · 2001 Northwest Bodybuilding Championships (1st place heavyweight division) · 2000 NPC Team Universe (light heavyweight top finisher) · 1999 ABA USA Bodybuilding Championship (2nd place) · 1999 Washington Ironman Natural (OVERALL TITLE) · 1998 ABA California Bodybuilding Championship (OVERALL TITLE) · 1996 Oregon Ironman Natural (OVERALL TITLE) 1992 Western Oregon Natural (Overall Title) 1990 Oregon Coast Natural (Overall Title)

WHY I LOVE IT:

I was blessed with this great body. I am naturally strong and can build muscle easy as well as stay fairly lean; all these are great traits to be a competitive bodybuilder. Working out is like my paintbrush and my physique is the canvass.

Discipline

Thougts on discipline. These are not mine. I simply felt at peace after reading them and wanted to share:

 Quotes on Discipline

Discipline must come through liberty... We do not consider an individual disciplined only when he has been rendered as artificially silent as a mute and as immovable as a paralytic. He is an individual annihilated, not disciplined.

Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and importance, although difficult, is the high road to pride, self-esteem and personal satisfaction.

Purpose

Posted in Training  :  Jan 16, 2011 6:57am

I am under the belief that everything and everyone that comes into our life or that we experience has some kind of purpose. It may not always be obvious but nevertheless it happens. I also have no problem simply accepting it when the reason escapes me and letting what lessons need to be learned happen. Those lessons can vary on opposite sides of the spectrum from being very painful to being extremely pleasurable. There are members on this site that I have got the pleasure of knowing on line and some personally that I feel have enriched my life tremendously! I look forward to more of the sam

Humility

Posted in Training  :  Jan 09, 2011 8:14pm
Each one of us come into this world with gifts yet to be discovered. Some, discover them early and exploit them to their maximum potential while others never quite see their talents. No matter how much we may excel at something there is always someone better so measuring yourself against others will always be like banging your head against a brick wall. The battle is always about ourselves and learning to come to terms the truth that we are perfect as we are but that we also are a work in progress. I have been humbled physically, intellectually, and spiritually so many time...
