How I Started:
I had chronic childhood asthma, was hospitalised often and never did any sport.....until one day about 5 years ago I decided to take up surfing! I remember paddling out for the first time and seeing men over 60 yrs old carving up the waves. I was inspired! So I joined the local gym and from there it is has opened up so many doors to a life I never imagined!
Why I Love It:
I love working out because being fit and strong enhances my quality of life, both mentally and physically.
How I Stay Motivated:

Longer term: working out is a means to an end for me - being strong and having endurance makes enjoying the adventures of life so much better!

This was taken after no exercise for 3 months due to work! Although I weighed 122 pounds I lacked condition and tone.
This was my first attempt at taking a fitness body shot. Since January 2008 I have been swimming 1k, 6 days a week. I had just started light weight training 2 weeks before this shot. Seeing this pic was very motivating, even though I am small I realised I have some muscle.

Goal (Long):
Longer term I want to learn new weight training techniques, methods and skills and see what my potential is. I want to improve my capacity for endurance and pain. And I want to keep challenging myself through cross training in aerobic sports. I wouldn't mind using my strength and fitness to learn a martial art or even take up flamenco dancing. Hey, life is short, enjoy every moment to the max!
What type of nutrition plan are you currently following? Give full details.
First 2 wks: Morning: protien shake with coffee, almond milk, banana, flax seed, cinnamon. Mid-day: apple/nuts/figs. Pre workout: hard boiled egg whites. Post: protein shake with mixed fresh fruits. Pre dinner snack: egg white, nuts. Dinner during the week: chicken/tuna and salad with low fat dressing. Saturday and Sunday night: normal food plus a couple glasses of wine. Next 4 weeks dropped off all the fruit except for the morning shake and post work out shake and changed to tuna from chicken. Last week: no fruit at all. I have had to compensate in the energy drop by using L-Glutamine this last week which worked well for recovery. My metabolism is firing...in fact the problem I have/had is the weight dropped off too quickly this last week and I had to keep trying to add fuel to burn. I made this diet up. First 2 wks: Morning: protien shake with coffee, almond milk, banana, flax seed, cinnamon. Mid-day: apple/nuts/figs. Pre workout: hard boiled egg whites. Post: protein shake with mixed fresh fruits. How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
At the moment: 15, 12, 10 and 8 depending - increasing the weight with each set. Sometimes the horrible burner set at the end with very light weight and lots of reps !"#Ñ[¨*¡?=
Two months ago I decided to try and get in the best shape of my life. I knew nothing about bodybuilding but after researching online I found this website. Little did I know what a key resource it would be - of information and motivation. Looking back I now realise I have been trying...
Currently I am training 6 days a week (3 days with a personal trainer). Before weights I do aerobic warm ups for 10-20mins using different boxing drills and some stretching. I alternate upper and lower body days. 3 days a week I swim approx 1km swim before my weights. I try to do 200 crunches...
Hi, That does make things tough when your dieting but it's good to just chill every now and then. Are you dieting for a event or just because. Either way, you look solid and looking hotttt!!! Phil
Hey Belinda! Thanks for stopping by my blog. What diet have you been following exactly? I'm glad to see someone following something similar had success! Do you have a journal specific to your low carb diet (especially the first few weeks)?
I guess that things we overcome DO make us tougher after all!
Listen, I saw the pic of you surfing and am so jalous!!LOL
Thats one thing involving water I didn't try yet! Closest I came to it was learning how to snowboard 2 yrs ago...HAHAAHA
I got to take what I'm given I guess!
I NEED to learn how to surf tho! It looks like sooo much fun! It'll happen, I'm working on it!
That’s why I choosed to put that story on my profile, to maybe open few ppls eyes and have them snap out of it and give it their 100% in pursue of their ultimate goal!
Thanks for taking time to write back and check my profile and thanks for reading this! I hope I didn't bore you with it!
Have a great weekend.
Then again, I never knew I had it so good until we lost everything in war(and almost our lives) and had to move here to make better life for our children! I've seen some things I'm not going to talk about(being deployed in army forces for 4 yrs) because I try really hard to forget it myself, but it helps me understand and appreciate every moment I can spend safe and happy and every little thing I can provide my family with!
All in all, can’t say I'm happiest with climates here in Canada but who's complaining! Got to learn to love snow still...LOL
And yes, ppl take their health for granted, complaining about silliest things that come their way but only when faced with real problems in life they realize how unimportant and little those problems were compared to REAL life problems.
