One day, about 6 years ago, I started thinking about my dreams. I realised I had always wanted to surf. I had never done any sport before in my life and I remember going out for the first time and seeing people more than 20 years older than me ripping it up - while I was exhausted just from paddling! But I caught my first wave and was hooked! I joined the local gym to try and get fit and from there it has opened up many new doors to a life I never imagined.
Why I Love It:
I love working out because being strong enhances my quality of life, both mentally and physically.
How I Stay Motivated:
Short term: I stay motivated by seeing the results and constantly working on my mental and physical skills. I love learning new things and having fun also helps!!! Longer term: working out is a means to an end for me - being strong and having endurance makes enjoying the adventures of life so much better!
BB Accomplishments:
Miss Fitness Panama & Miss Gym Panama: Second overall.

This was taken in the San Blas Islands, Panama by my sister visting from New Zealand! I had done no exercise for 3 months due to work! Although I weighed 123 pounds I lacked condition and tone.
It's about time I uploaded a progress photo! And also to show that a physique is rarely in 100% condition all the time since it is necessary to train in cycles with different diets and different development objectives. I have had a rest for a couple of months and now am starting to train...
When I first started weight training last year I found Ava's photos online and was amazed at how strong and sexy she was. I went back and studied photos and articles from Ava's history until today. I was impressed at how she has developed her physique and career - through a lot of hard work and determination - competitions, her website, videos and professional relationships. And Ava's Iron Man shoot last year was so inspirational and is still one of my favourite female physique videos!
Suz inspires me because she is so generous with her time - taking an interest in members here, encouraging them and checking up on their progress. Despite having a busy life and a job she finds time to really care about people - and she is a natural motivator. Often when I visit her profile I noticed all the great comments back from people who she has taken the time to build great relationships with. I admire that tremendously. And she trains hard, eats healthy and continues to see progress!
What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
I understand and have been known to have the occasional outburst. But I say, conserve your energy for lifting not grunting

What type of nutrition plan are you currently following? Give full details.
Right now I am leaning out while still trying to maintain muscle condition. I have 3 secret foods I am eating! The first is my version of Gallo Pinto, the traditional Costa Rican breakfast, an omelette made with 6 eggs whites, 2 yolks, red beans, tomatoes and a little low fat cheese. Then I have my favourite post workout protein shake: vanilla, banana, papaya, flax seed and cinnamon. Then there is my chilli pork and vegetable casserole (slow cooked lean pork, onions, peppers, string beans, tomatoes, kidney beans and taco flavoured salsa) for dinner! Heaps of protein, low carbs but enough energy to workout hard and a small amount of fat. Hey I think it's working!!Right now I am leaning out while still trying to maintain muscle condition. I have set myself a new goal - to start boxing again and train to a level where I could fight if I want to. I have a long way to go. First learning how to skip properly - it's a lot harder than it looks! Also boxing is so dynamic & fast - requiring power, agility, speed...
After my 5 month gaining program I am now leaning out getting ready for February photos and my March comp. Right now it is a very delicate balance between maintaining my muscle condition and shedding the fat. I can easily over train because when I am lean and eating low calories my body just...

Training is going good. I haven't heard anything about the MuscleTech comp. I was happy with my results, but don't feel I have a chance in winning or placing in the top 10. If I do I would be very surprised. It was a great learning experience and has pushed me to compete next year. Results should be known possibly next week. Great profile pic! Ricky
hi, you look great! i just wanted to know how do i come up with a diet plan? need to lose body fat first before getting into serious training. do you have a person in mind? my name is cindy and i'm 44 years old too. i workout 3 or 4 times a week at golds in boca. could you email if you get a chance? thanks so much.
Training is real good i go and go and i am looking leaner than before... i just feel like i am the slowest guy on this site for progress sometimes. It gets a bit frustrating. I want to get ripped and i am just having a tough time losing the last few pounds of fat! I just say "patience"! lol
