Background

When I Started: Aug 2000
HOW I STARTED:

I was 165 lbs. in high school and played on the soccer team and swam. When I got to college, I met a friend who was on a football scholarship and we became good friends and he got me started. As I started to make gains/progress, I wanted to become more than just a weightlifter.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I love going to the gym and entering "another world." One where everything else doesn't matter and for that time, you're completely focused and dominating the weights. I love seeing my progress and reaching my goals. It also makes me appreciate being healthy enough to do what I love, being an up and coming bodybuilder. I love having a bond with my friends in the gym and seeing/helping them reach their goals as well.

This is the protocol I'm following leading up to the Kumite Classic in Pittsburgh, PA:

BW warm-up 5x10
German Volume Training 10x10,
FST-7 to burn out


SHOULDERS:
Close grip pull-up
Smith Machine Presses 10x10
lateral raises FST-7


ARMS:
Underhand grip pull-up 5x10
Bicep Curls 10x10
DB hammer Curls FST-7

Dips 5x10
Close-Grip Bench 10x10
Pushdowns FST-7


BACK:
Wide pull-ups 5x10
T-Bar Rows 10x10
Deadlifts 10x10
Close grip pull-down FST-7

CHEST:
Wide dips 5x10
Incline BB Press 10x10
DB Flies FST-7


LEGS:
Lunges 5x10
Squat 10x10
Leg Curl 10x10
Calf Raise 10x10



Cardio:
3 Days/week including 1 spin class, will increase as contest draws near/body requires it.

Abs:
Trained 3x/week, will increase as contest draws near/body requires it.

My Motivation Program

I keep setting goals for myself, whether they are competition or strength goals, and work as hard as I can to reach them. I have a great group of friends and who keep me in check and make sure I'm pushing through. But at the end of the day, it's up to one's self when it comes to dedication, work, diet, etc...

Build Brutal Legs

Here's a great article from one of my favorite sites, T-Nation.  It's a great site to get diet and training articles from!  I tried this workout, and got a great pump!  For the next time, I would adjust the weight, since I know the base line for myself now, but every few weeks, this is a great workout to blow up the wheels!!!
