When I Started:
Aug, 1999
How I Started:
I started lifting weights in college so I could get in better shape. It was my desire to compete in fitness contests that pushed me to start lifting seriously and I haven't looked back.
Why I Love It:
I feel good when I work out, which in turn gives me the confidence to aggressively go out and try things other people consider too difficult. I enjoy working out because it has allowed me to grow physically and mentally. Getting stronger or faster hasn't always been easy, I've had to train really hard in some cases to make some gains, but being able to change "I can't" to "I can" makes it worth it.
How I Stay Motivated:
I really enjoy pushing myself to the limit, challenging myself to develop beyond the norm and accomplish what others think is impossible. I get satisfaction from being able to do something today that I couldn't do yesterday.
BB Accomplishments:
I held the Miss Desert Fitness and Ms. Fitness Arizona titles from 2000-2002. I successfully completed the 2009 Boston Marathon with a time of 3:14:27.
I want to push myself to the limit and find out what I am capable of!
Goal (Long):
I'm a very driven woman, I believe in constant learning and improvement. Once upon a time I was a successful fitness competitor before I retired in 2002. I like to keep challenging myself and I usually find competition pushes me to be the best I can be. Over the past few years, I have gained strength, significantly increased my speed and power and improved my flexibility. Most recently, I challenged myself to improve my stamina and endurance and competitively run against the best in the world in the Boston Marathon, which I successfully did in April. My latest goal is to become proficient in self defense techniques so I can protect myself (there is a story behind this), I am currently working towards my black belt in tae kwon do.

Last weekend I ran the Knoxville Marathon and finished with a time of 4:12:37. An improvement over my earlier time to be sure, but it was still disappointing to me since I expected to do better, I know I can do better.
Yesterday I ran the Whiskey Marathon. It's a smaller event, less than...
I typically run around 20-25 miles a week. I like to mix in long and short distances, cross country style and sprints, and even sometimes uphill. I don't lift weights as much as I used to, I only lift 3-4 times a week to maintain my strength and power. I currently take/practice martial arts...

Right on Linda! When I was in the military, I set a command record at the ripe old age of 34 (and a similar battalion best at age 35 against people in their teens and low 20s). I still train like a man of any age.... You will rock at 45!! Best wishes, Scott
