What got me started in Bodybuilding was when I got injured, playing college football, and ripped my ACL, MCL, and cracked my cartilage in half. After the Doc repaired the ligaments and removed the left half of the meniscus, I went to Physical Therapy a few times and went through the exercises process so they could clear me for all activities. I realized during this time that I could do this same type of rehabilitation on my own and for others. I did so by first receiving a ISSA Certification and becoming a trainer. I thought that this would be a good job/life style for myself. I have always been a strong person, but I have never been successfully in archiving that bodybuilder physique. I've even been a manager for a GNC store, and tried every type of supplement on the market at that time. I even did the whole BSN stack for 3 months and gained 41 over all pounds, yet it wasn't in tell I started back in the gym and told myself that I wasn't going to incorporate supplements in to my training in tell my body gets to it's own natural peak. Well it's been 8 months and I haven't touched one supplement and I have had the biggest muscular gains and the most body fat (47.75lbs) loss ever. It is all due to the change of eating habits and the daily/weekly staging that needs to be done.
Why I Love It:
I love working out because of a number of things. One, I have to be a product of my own knowledge, and because personal trainers bodies should always be changing based on all of the new recherches that comes out. We as trainers have to see if certain philosophy's work or are possible, and we do this so our clients beat their goals. Two, anger is another reason that I love working out. Working out allows me to channel that anger, and turn it in to something beatifically to my health and everyone else in my life. The third reason I love working out is that it pushes me to take everything to that next level mentally and physically. It even pushes me to educate myself, so I will be a better, and more well rounded Trainer/Educator. After my first year of competing I realized that nothing beats that feeling you get when your on stage and letting everyone see my hard work, and looking back at what I have to improve on. The next time I see the stage I'll bring my best based off what I know and what I educate myself to bring me to that next level.
How I Stay Motivated:
I stay motivated by always seeing my body change due to the new things that I have recherches, be taught, or that I have come up with myself. I think "All trainers need to lead by example and walk the walk and don't talk the talk."

To Get Bigger and Harder for the 2009 Contra Costa Bodybuilding Championships
Goal (Long):
Started out just like a regular fresh fish at the Contra Costa Bodybuilding Championship with a 12 place finish. Then I trained for the Central Valley Classic and got a 3rd place finish. Now it's my 3rd show, NPC San Jose Bodybuilding Championship, and it is time to put everything together that I've been able to take in and put a stronger show. I'm coming in with better hardness then before, now it is time for the stage. Well I placed 6th at the 2007 San Jose Bodybuilding Championship, yet it's time again to get ready and dialed in for the 2007 San Francisco Bodybuilding Championship. My newest personal longterm goal is now to have Placed 1st at two National Qualifying shows, but that doesn't mean that I not going to do other shows here and there or stop when I get there. Man after all the sports and other athletic things that I have done or prepared for, or so I thought I did, nothing can beat competing.
Using a towel in place of handles or grip. I use a towel in place of handles during back exercises on cables; pull downs, rows, and pull ups. I also use a towel when doing single arm curls with dumbbells, tricep extensions and other exercises. Using heavy weight is another way for me to get my forearms going. Ryan, the progress shots show the incredible shape you're in these days. Best of luck to you in your upcoming contests ... or rather my condolences to your competition. ;)
Your most recent pictures really show your massive size, with especially strong quads and bicep peaks. You should be on the way to winning those shows.
