How I Started:
I've mostly just used cardio and weight machines (on and off)and jogged over the last few years. I had a personal trainer for three months in 2007 to give me a wider exposure to weight training exercises. After a knee injury in April I had trouble doing much of anything and gained alot of weight. Had the knee surgery in November and I'm just getting back to weight training. Have to take it slow. I can no longer run, so I'm hoping that adding weight training to low impact cardio will help me reach my fitness goals.

Goal (Long):
My goal used to be to run a full marathon, since both of my sisters have done so and I now live in a place where everyone is out running with their dogs. Since I can't run anymore, I need a new goal and a new way of revving up my metabolism. I enjoy the elliptical, hiking, and biking, but cardio alone is not enough to take this weight off. My goal is to build muscle and eat clean so that I can lose this 36 pounds of extra weight I'm carrying around. I want to feel the energy in my body rather than the fat that weighs me down.

Keeping track in workout tracker. I am still learning about what exercises are good for what body part. At least I'm not doing just machines anymore. I used to avoid free weights because I felt silly doing so little weight and cables because I had no clue what to do with them. I usually tear...

Workout week has been frustrating...Work stress was a barrier that I had to just get through and make it. Trying to make working out as much of a habit as brushing my teeth!
