When I Started:
Mar, 2007
How I Started:
I've always been into sports, so throughout school I was active in weight lifting. I continued to lift throughout my four years in the Army and even through most of my time in college.
Since then, it's been on and off; with an emphasis on off lately--kids will do that to you.
Why I Love It:
I like the post-workout feeling.
How I Stay Motivated:
Right now, being 38, my motivation comes from wanting to be around for my children.
I don't want to have to sit on the porch while my kids are playing in the front yard.
I was at a 7-on-7 football tournament when I ran into Bobby Carpenter of the Dallas Cowboys. He wanted his picture taken with me, so I obliged.
You can see in the photo that I'm much slimmer than I have been.
Your stats show you have made some great progress on your weight loss... Congrats! I'm trying to bulk up to about 220 lbs and then cut the fat and try to leave the muscle (thats the plan... I hope!) I see we also share the brown paneled walls,,,,lol. I like working out in my basement because the price is right and it's a real time saver. I also like that I get to pick the tunes! keep up the great work!
Steve,
We have a lot in common, I have 3 boys and lift at home (well you go to the gym now) so I know your struggles. Congrats on your gains and the massive weight loss! I live in Mansfield I saw your from Ohio.
that's funny, I am thinking on going out of the gym and into my garage. I need to get alot of equipment thou. Good luck to you, sounds like getting back into the gym might really put it in another gear for you. Keep up the good work!
Congrats with your progress. Also your weight is dropping like a rock and you should be proud. It takes a lot of determination to make stuff like that happen.
Good on ya!
Those calves look pretty HOT is you ask me. Congrats on yesterday's "milestone" every little bit counts. (I read your blog) I've stopped by here before, I'll keep checking on you. Keep Liftin', Dude!
Good going so far! Keep it up. And just in time, we know that sports reporters have a bad habit of looking a little on the 'bigger' side from too much pizza, beer and wings!
Steve, Welcome. Your blog caught my eye. You're at a pretty common place for a lot of 38 year old guys. 38 was right about the time I started to get back into shape. It has been easier and more successful than I thought it would be. Check out my blogs. I write a lot about being a grown-up and trying to get into/stay in shape. Mike
